A&M’s Michael blames NyQuil for missing two Combine interviews

Christine Michael AP

Former Texas A&M running back Christine Michael slept in and missed two scheduled interviews with NFL teams at the Scouting Combine. He says NyQuil is to blame.

In a brief statement posted on the Aggie Sports Twitter account, Michael said he went into the Combine extremely sick, and that when he took some NyQuil it knocked him out and caused him to oversleep. Michael said he apologized to the teams he stood up.

The good news for Michael at the Combine was that he looked great on the field, leading all running backs in five different workouts: The bench press, vertical jump, broad jump, three-cone drill and 20-yard shuttle. No one doubts that Michael is a phenomenal athlete.

So as long as the team that drafts Michael gets him DayQuil instead of NyQuil, and an alarm clock that doesn’t have a separate knob for the radio, he should be fine.

The games are Sunday at 1pm. Can you make it or do you need a wakeup call?

Always somebody else to blame but themselves, you’re a grown man. Its your fault not nyquils

Go ahead and slide in the draft all the way to Pittsburgh!

I’ll buy the story, not. Professionals take measures to be ready, especially ones with Millions on the line.

I dont understand how anyone in the world uses products like nyquil or cough medicine. You getting better has nothing to do with these products and they are extremely toxic when looked at properly. All “drugs and medicine” is toxic.

I’ve used it a few times & still heard the alarm clock…Did he drink the whole bottle?

If you go into the combine with off the field problems and then skip meetings you are a complete idiot. No excuses.

sounds like somebody the Bengals will draft.

  19. bambamraider says: Mar 8, 2013 7:13 PM

Not just 1, but 2 interviews missed? Wrong attitude. In the real world you don’t get to use that as an excuse. Sounds like another Pre-Madonna player that’ll miss meetings and potentially throw off the chemistry in the locker room. Whoever drafts this kid, is in for a high maintenance player.

No big deal Christine, It’s only the biggest job interview of your entire life. Blaming your irresponsibility and lack of punctuality on NyQuil will undoubtedly come off as a very positive trait when your being evaluated by future employers…great work thus far.

I’ve spent a lifetime with a sleeping disorder. Fact is, I am going to be late from time to time. I also know every excuse in the world.

It is very hard to be honest as people have a hard time understanding if you are outside of their box.

It IS his fault but taking sleep medications are scary and while Benadryl works best for me it will make it hard to wake up.

    So it goes…
