Moore played great the year before last and deserved a start.

Tanny got his start, and while he was OK to good, he’s not a clear franchise guy yet, so it makes sense for the Phins to keep the strongest backup they can

Great move by the Phins. Moore is likely the best backup in the NFL and I’m glad he is staying with the team.

I am glad for Matt, finally the Fins do something that make sense. He can start somewhere else but backing up RT is the best for him, he may start soon as I do believe RT is not that good and he is fragile.

But if you play for a team in a state that doesn’t have income tax, you get 8 game checks state tax-free. That’s 8 more than the other guys get.

Moore’s a terrific competitor who has endured one tough break after another during his career.

He was brutalized in Carolina during John Fox’s final season, and he got a raw deal in Miami after winning so many games two seasons ago.

He took it like a man when the Fins drafted and decided to start Tannehill, and he showed once again he was a real team player all of last year.

The Dolphins are smart to keep him because he can take over if Tannehill goes down or he can be traded if a super deal comes up and he gets a chance to be a starter, which I’m 100% sure he would love to be.

You guys calling him a dick and loser for taking the money are idiots. He’s doing the smart thing for his future and his family while also leaving a door open to become a starting QB if that opportunity arises.

Some of you get it… Most of you don’t. $4M for the best backup in football is not a mistake. The average pay is 2.85M to hold a Clipboard. We also pay our Starter nothing compared to other Starters (Rookie Contract) In fact, they have the option of Trading him now and probably will. P.Devlin is a capable backup and they might draft a QB as well with the 10 picks they have.

The real shame is MM is a classy guy, team player and possibly starting material, but never gets that long term chance to prove. Happy to keep MM, happy to be a Fins Fan. We are doing all the right things so far to get on top and stay there.

you guys are fools. Tannehill’s cap number plus moore together is still less than what most starters count against the cap. Tannehill is still unproven in many ways and you now have trade bait moving forward. If you give up Moore, who is your primary backup moving forward? Matt Cassell? there is nothing out there and if Tannehill struggles as a sophmore or is nicked up your season is toast. Im not an Ireland fan but he has had a good week.

His chances of winning the starting job in Miami are just as good as anywhere else in the league. Especially since he already knows the system. Matt probably doesn’t share the same over inflated sense of Ryan Tannehill’s worth that media and fans do.

Gantt was the best writer on the Panthers beat for a long long time so yes I am pretty sure he knows MM.

I think the difference between MM and a guy like DavidCarr is that Carr really truly never wanted to start again after Hou cut him but Moore probably wanted to at some point and realizes that it’s just not his role. Nothing wrong with that. I mean Dick LeBeau was intelligent enough to know that beign one of the best DCs is more satisfying to him than being a mediocre HC.

It’s not about opportunity. He’s 29 and automatically 2nd to whomever he would have had to compete with for a starters spot. Any other team would have likely put him in a competition with someone younger with more potential, just like with Tannehill.

If he signs here then he can showcase his skills in preseason with an offense he’s familiar with. If someone trades for him then he’s likely getting a starting opportunity from the moment he walks into the new door.

This should speak to the leadership in Philbin and the ability of Ireland to retain one of the best backups in the league that can produce on the fly and likely the best available FA QB on the market absent a chance to start here.

I’m confident a pick will be secured in exchange for his services whether it be this season or next.

4 Million for a backup QB seems rather expensive. However, 4 million to guarantee the Dolphins 2 divisional wins against the Jets (by keeping Sanchez as the starter and not Moore), it is well worth the money.

Good move Dolphins. I will be weeping each game Sanchez steps on the field.
