One of the league’s prominent special teams players says he will explore free agency.

In a story published Friday, Redskins reserve middle linebacker and Pro Bowl special-teamer Lorenzo Alexander told the Washington Times’ Rich Campbell that he will “listen to other teams’ offers and see if the Redskins are willing to match.”

Previously, Alexander indicated to the Washington Examiner that he had declined Washington’s first contract offer.

The 29-year-old Alexander has been the Redskins’ special teams captain for the last three seasons. On defense, he notched 46 tackles (34 solo) and 2.5 sacks in 2012.

Alexander has played all 16 games for Washington in each of the last four campaigns.
