Louis Vasquez wants to “explore every option”

With a three-day negotiating window opening up Saturday, it’s going to be hard to keep players from at least dipping their toes in the free agency waters in hopes of getting bowled over by a deal from a new team.

The Chargers would like to keep guard Louis Vasquez from jumping to another team as a free agent, for example, but it doesn’t look like they are going to be able to do that by signing him before he’s able to see what other teams are willing to offer. Vasquez’s agent Rob Sheets told the Indianapolis Star that his client knows what the Chargers would like, but that he islooking forward to hearing what teams outside of San Diego will be offering to get him to switch uniforms.

“The interest is genuine,” Sheets said. “At the same time, I have a client who wants to test the market. The Chargers had a chance to get something done last November. Now, Lou wants to explore every option.”

As you might have guessed from the location of the comments, the Colts are one of the teams that are expected to be bidding on Vasquez’s services. Sheets said that he “definitely” expects to hear from the Colts on Saturday. They likely won’t be the only ones putting in a call to gauge where PFT‘s 50th-ranked free agent is thinking about signing this offseason.

The only guy worth anything on the Charger offensive line and they fail to find a way to sign him before now? Pathetic. Just pathetic.

The only way this is okay is if the Chargers plan on signing Levitre from the Bills. If not, then they better have something up their sleeves, Rivers can’t take to many more seasons playing behind second string lineman. This is suppose to be his prime. Get him some help so he can return to being one of the better QBs in the league

Charger fans are used to seeing the front office let players go, but this is a new regime.

    For now, trust in Telesco.

How can I say this guy deserves a big contract with the Chargers. The weakest part of the Chargers last year was the O-line, and that’s where this guy played.

The best chain in the worst link of the team says something, he never made the guys around him better, so clearly if he wants to get the biggest $ it probably wont be with the team he’s underperformed on

SD’s former Player Personnel head now has the same job for the Colts. Vasquez’ OL coach from SD is now an OL coach for the Colts. Just like with Pagano and Dawan Landry, it’s pretty easy to connect the dots.

I have never heard the argument that an O-lineman is supposed to make his teammates block better. Is he supposed to immediately pancake his man before roaming over for the help doubleteam?

    Thanks for the chuckle.
