APThe Buccaneers considered using the first-round RFA tender on running back LeGarrette Blount, but they apparently were able to secure him for far less.
As noted by former agent Joel Corry on Twitter, Blount has re-signed with the Bucs for one year.
He’ll make $1.75 million, including $1.25 million in base salary, $350,000 in reporting bonus and a $150,000 workout bonus.
That slots in between the low RFA tender of $1.3 million and the second-round tender of $2.0 million. The first-round tender of $2.8 million would have certainly scared everyone off, but it would have also been too much to pay to a second-option back, who quickly fell behind Doug Martin last year.

Huh, thats a remarkably good deal. Even if he does nothing they have to get to the cap floor, and he can probably provide at least $2m in value next season.
I can’t wait to see him run behind a healthy Joseph & Nicks.
could have probably gotten a better deal elsewhere even though he is a pedestrian runner; probably smoking too many blounts to try though
He needs to get the ball this year. Martin can’t be taking a pounding week in and week out. Hopefully, he’ll get on the field more this year.
Interesting decision by Blount. I think he feels
Grateful that the bucs signed him when he was let go from Tennessee a couple years ago and this is his way of returning the favor. A bit of a hometown discount. With nicks and Joseph healthy from the start, freeman, Martin and Blount will have a huge year!
Bucs will try to shop him around, no one will bite. I’ll be shocked if he’s on the Bucs 53 man roster. He was horrible in 2012.
That’s a knockout of a deal.
