APThe Chargers don’t figure to be big spenders, but they’re using the weekend to take care of some of the smaller items on their shopping list.
Having already signed their long snapper to a four-year contract, they’ve also reached a four-year contract with kicker Nick Novak, according to Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego.
Novak replaced the injured Nate Kaeding early last season, and didn’t miss a field goal from inside 50 yards.
The early deal allows the San Diego native to stay with his boyhood team, and allows the Chargers to concentrate on offense and defense when the league year starts Tuesday.

Teams just can’t resist Redskins rejects. Novak is the 2nd worst kicker behind Suisham.
Would live to see the Chargers draft Quinn Sharp
* love not live stupid phone
logicalvoicesays, you obviously did not pay attention to Chargers games last year.
Novak was very solid. Like the post said, he didn’t miss a kick under 50 yards. That doesn’t suck.
Come on Boltbacker…don’t fall into the trap of logical voice trolling. As a Skins fan, he drives me nuts. Novak is a very good signing for the Bolts.
If DX and Vasquez walk while we were focused on Long-Snapper and kicker off the street I’m going to poke my eyes out with a spork.
I agree 1000% with Gochargersgo…. Telesco 0-2 so far.
Damn phone keeps picking “report comment” when I’m trying to “Like”. My bad PFT
Really hope McCoy’s “Plan that he assembled over the years” is to have the best special teams in the NFL. #werescrewd
