I can’t believe the comments and thumb responses I’m seeing on this article. Normally everyone is complaining about everything Goodell does saying he doesn’t care about player safety but whining about everything he does to try to make the game safer. It’s refreshing to see a few other people agree with me that Goodell really isn’t the spawn of satan.

Maybe the moderator that always seems to delete any comment I make supporting Goodell has the day off.

Haden’s a stud. Most people don’t know that because they don’t watch the Browns, but he’s the real deal. He’s also a good kid who is very involved with the community in Cleveland. He’s really embraced being a Brown.

I loved his comeback when he was asked about Richardson’s profits too, “I guess he would give Goodell an A+”.

Don’t hate on him because he cares about playing the game he loves and getting paid. How many other players do you think feel exactly the same way? A lot, I would wager. The militants like Brees aren’t the majority (and he got paid to boot). Just like in the real working world, most people just want to do their job, hope it’s something they love doing, and get paid. Why should football players have a higher standard than us regular people?

You really want to know why he gave Goodell an A? BECAUSE HE DOESN’T WANT TO GET SUSPENDED EVER AGAIN. He’s scared he’ll have to flip burgers. It has nothing to do with a “big picture”. Some of you people are so blind.

The Big Picture??? Saving the game??? He’s commenting from a very limited viewpoint. So Goodall gets an A because he gets to play & cashes his paychecks. Really???

Unless the NFL took a stance on safety the upcoming lawsuit for concussions might wipe out the game. This is not something to be taken lightly. I like most love the old school football but it is evolving whether we like it or not.

Haden sees the “big picture”. His macroscopic point of view is more intelligent and in direct opposition to the view of most players, those who lack Haden’s perspicacity. Commissi0ner Goodell is both saving the game as well as the players from themselves.

I think that had to be one of the most candid interviews I ever heard from a player.

He’s watching film of other CBs–his “competition”–as he strives for self improvement.

He took an optimistic view of his quarterback without pretending that Wheeden would set the world on fire.

He sized up his teams chances for 2013 as .500–no rose-colored glasses there.

I can see him becoming a coach after his CB career is done.

The problem is that if the NFL does not implement these strict rules (esp. for player safety), they get sued for not caring. If they do enforce strict rules, they get chastised for ‘ruining the game’. If frivolous lawsuits got thrown out & players had to take accountability for knowing that ‘football’ comes with physical risks, then we could still have the game we love played the way it should be played. Unfortunately, that is not how things work now adays. Don’t hate the player (Goodell/NFL), hate the game (CYA b/c of lawsuits).

If you’re looking at it from an owner’s perspective, then Goodell is doing a great job. The league is making money hand over fist, and owners are constantly finding new revenue streams and ways to squeeze a few more dollars out of fans.

From a business perspective, Goodell is doing a great job of promoting the growth of the National Football League.

It’s just a shame that they’re ruining the game of football in the process.

Every time a Steeler or Raven makes a big tackle Goodell fines them 50k. Haden figures that by kissing up to the big man and being thankful, he can secure even more advantage. It’s too bad the kid doesn’t have the heart to ever be a champion.
