Well, Clayborn has been progressing just fine in his rehab. This isn't just from connected sources, but also from Clayborn himself. He should be on the field come September.

Bowers won't miss any time on the football field this season, IMO. Let the case play out first of course, but this isn't Plaxico part two, not by a longshot. Daniel Te'o-Nesheim is a capable backup notching four sacks last season.

Let us not forget that the Bucs are flush with cap space and could gain even more if Eric Wright is released and/or Quincy Black receives a medical settlement due to his neck injury. So while eight draft picks won't fill all the holes, one can estimate the Bucs drafting one or two corners, a tight end, a defensive end or tackle and possibly a QB, while likely taking a flier on a safety or even another corner in the later rounds of the draft. Don't rule out a trade of LeGarrette Blount to a RB hungry team such as Detroit to gain a mid round draft pick.

As for free agency, I'm not quite sure the Bucs will sign two all pro players as they did with Vincent Jackson and Carl Nicks, but I'm sure the team will sign a corner (Sean Smith perhaps) a veteran defensive end and possibly a safety and/or defensive tackle. I wouldn't be shocked to see the tight end spot filled via free agency as there are some productive players on the open market.

I think the Bucs are doing the right thing in letting Michael Bennett test the open market. They'll have a chance to match his best offer and if it's in the neighborhood of 7-9 million I could see Bennett back with Tampa Bay. If a defensive end hungry team like the Titans offer 10-12 million per season, I think Bennett has played his last down as a Buccaneer.

We'll find out what happens in the next three or four days.

thegregwitul says: Mar 9, 2013 2:15 PM

Clayborn is getting healthy again, is 24 years old, had an excellent rookie season and should return to form.

Bowers came back early from injury and flashed glimpses of impact play, and at full speed is a better player than Bennett. He won’t miss time due to the gun charge.

Bennett is a good player against the pass and run, but I get the feeling a team other than Tampa will overpay considerably for his talents. I’d love for the Bucs to bring both of the Bennett brothers to Tampa, but I get the feeling a veteran player will be signed to provide situational pass rushing for the Bucs while Bennett moves on to a team like Tennessee.

xxxxxxxx

WOW! What confidence!

How does Bowers get out of a mandatory jail term.

No one at Buc HQ is saying anything about Clayborne. So I don't take that as positive news.

If Bennet leave, they will be look ing for at least 2 DE. With Miller also gone they also need a nose tackle.

The Bucs are dying at CB. They only have 8 draft picks. So where are all these players going to come from? Any one have a names?

I would love to see this guy come back as a Buc, but his asking price maybe a bit too high!! With guys like Clayborn and Bowers coming back 100%, GMC coming off a pro bowl season the d-line should finally reach it's potential! If he would sign for around 6 to 8 mil a year then it should be a win win situation plus you know he had a desire to play with brother and we could use the help at tight end!
