Bengals coach Marvin Lewis wasn’t lying when he said the team plans to use its cap surplus on its own guys.

Per a league source, the Bengals have re-signed defensive end Wallace Gilberry to a three-year, $6.75 million contract.

Gilberry entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Alabama.  Signed by the Giants in 2008, he was cut before the start of the regular season.  He joined the Chiefs, spending four years in Kansas City before signing last year with the Buccaneers.

Cut on September 14, Gilberry landed in Cincinnati, appeared in 14 games, notched 6.5 sacks, and recovered a fumble for a touchdown against the Eagles.

  1. Bengals look like they will retain most of their d-line from last year. Which was a top-3 unit if not the top unit in the NFL.

Oh no big deal, just a rotation player with 6.5 sacks. Only as many as Jason Pierre-Paul, DE for the Giants. I could name many more players with fewer sacks, but I digress.

  2. Great rotational DE, may even be a capable starter. 6.5 sacks in limited snaps. He’s a good player, period. 2.25 million per is a bargain.

  3. @bengalsstilsuck…..you say they suck and you dont even know who their players are….they made the playoffs three out of the last four years…..your are an idiot.idiot ( bengals troll)

  4. It was a good resign. I ain’t knocking him. I’m happy with it. What would you like me to say,” he’s the best guy in the world and will start every game for the rest of eternity?” He is a great part to our rotation of talented d lineman. Chill out.

How many games are your brownies gonna win? You know what, I’m gonna stop coz I really don’t want to be mean..the nfl world knows about your team and I shud say that u are one heck of a fan to have some guts and post stuff about better teams

  6. Last time i checked my crappie Browns beat your overrated bungols yea the team that takes valuable playoff spots so a real team can advance your team is a stepping stone for other teams in the playoffs and always will be.

  7. Your team will always suck, have horrible uni’s and pick in the top 10… You guys pick the most in the top 10 and still suck… Your team is the joke of the league and will be, atleast we have something to look forward to, your team can’t even say they sniffed the Playoffs and its only a matter of time until J. Haden RUNS faster than the Lebron decision…. Cincy is Cleveland’s daddy

Only a true loser would put stock in “making the playoffs.”

Every teams goal, every year, is to win the Super Bowl and the Bengals have an empty trophy case just like the Browns, Bills and many other teams.

    No Super Bowls for you.

  9. Only Oakland hangs on to the past, in life you look forward no back and your future looks bright…. NOT, we’re Oaklands daddy to after that spanking last year
