Playing back their with Craig Dahl shows how capable a safety Mikell still is. Just imagine if he was paired back their with an NFL caliber player, as opposed to Dahl. Rams made a mistake on this one, but I guess it is all about money.

Craig Dahl is the achilles heel of that defense.

Not that the Redskins can afford this player, but it’s a good sign for them that more corners and safeties are hitting the FA market. Maybe after the teams with lots of cap room get the top guys, the Redskins will be able to swoop in and get a good deal on a second tier guy.

Sadly, second tier will be an improvement over what they have now…but it’s still an improvement…

Quinton Mickell a star? That is a stretch if I ever heard one. He was ok as an Eagle a couple of years back but nothing special….not really interested.

Yet another competent starter leaving the Rams, I’m not real sure what Fisher/Snead are doing with this release, creating a giant hole at S and 6MM of dead money for 3MM in cap relief does not sound prudent.

You are correct about the dead money. However, that money can be spread over the last two years of his contract (this year and next year) thus freeing up 6 million in cap space this year. After signing their draft class, the rams should have about 13 million to spend in free agency. Offensive tackle I presume.

This doesn’t make sense to me. He played well in all the ways he was used last year. Blitzing/Run/descent in coverage. If he is let go-he will find work and be productive no question

the eagles are likely to make a big run at goldson for FS, and if we can pull him away from the 9ers i wouldn’t mind them bringing back mikell for the strong side. those two signings could turn the team’s biggest weak spot of the last two seasons into the teams biggest strength. with $45 million in cap space if/when we release nnamdi, they could really turn things around with a good draft and some smart FA signings.

I would rank Mikell’s play as above average to good but the Rams are going young. With his age; cap number; and the ton of safeties available in the draft and FA, it was the move to make. We wish you all the best Mikell and Steven Jackson.
