The 49ers have signed defensive tackle Ian Williams to a two-year, $3.2 million contract, a league source told PFT’s Mike Florio Monday.

According to the source, the contract includes a $1 million signing bonus and another $1 million guaranteed.

Williams, 23, has appeared in four games in two seasons for San Francisco. He played collegiately at Notre Dame. He was entering the final year of his contract, per Rotoworld.

  1. Meet Issac Sopoaga’s replacement. 9ers fans will be happy with him.

Now let’s see what Seahawks fans have to say on the subject. The Harvin trade has them all out over their skies today. A late season home blowout win, their first win in 4 tries against the 9ers, and you’d think they won the conference.

  2. Interesting extension by the Niners. They did that for Alex Boone a few years back (also another undrafted free agent). Hopefully they have unearthed another diamond in the rough.

  3. Looks like Ricky Jean and/or Sopoaga will be gone. Williams isn’t making starter money, but that’s probably “active roster” money.

  4. Let Seattle have Harvin. There is a little green plant that will be legal in Washington next season. Let’s see how long Harvin, actually all the Seahawks have before one of them fails a drug test. Harvin is a potential great talent. But I’m so happy my Niners stay clear of guys like Harvin. Going to be an interesting year in the NFC West. NINERS4EVER!!!

Seattle fans are adorable. Their team strings together half a good season, suddenly they think they’re a dynasty. How about winning just one Super Bowl first…then you can brag a bit.

This is how you build championships…using the draft and developing home-grown talent. I can’t wait to see how Ian Williams does.
