When it comes to the contract standoff between the Ravens and receiver Anquan Boldin, no news is bad news.
The two sides have not yet worked out a deal that would replace Boldin’s $6 million base salary for 2012. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, it’s “not looking promising.”
Boldin previously had promised to retire if he’s cut by the Ravens. More recently, it has become clear that Boldin will indeed play elsewhere, if the Ravens cut him loose.
It nearly happened Friday. It could still happen today or tomorrow before 4:00 p.m. ET, when the new league year begins.
