Ravens are trying to trade Boldin

With the Ravens and receiver Anquan Boldin in a stare down over whether Boldin will take a pay cut, the options seem fairly narrow.

Boldin gets his $6 million or he takes a pay cut or he gets cut, right?

There’s another option.  Per a league source, the Ravens are trying to trade Boldin.  Specifically, they’re calling around the league, looking for potential suitors.

It’s unclear whether the Ravens will be able to make it happen.  If it does, chances are that Boldin will continue to refuse to take a reduction.

The real question is whether Boldin will get $6 million or more, if when he gets cut.

Boldin looks sharp in purple. He will fit right in with the Vikings.

In Ozzie we trust! The man wins Superbowls!

    Purple?!?!

Buffalo should jump on this. A trade is the only way a big name receiver will join that roster.

will never happen. and not smart to even try. surprised to see the Ravens front office doing this, assuming it’s true. all but guarantees that Boldin will continue to refuse a pay cut leading up to the 4pm deadline tomorrow, and the rest of the league knows it. no one will give up more than a 5th rounder for him.

It reeks of desperation. Even trading him, the Ravens will carry about $1.5 mil in dead money against their cap. If I’m a GM with an interest in Boldin, I stand pat for another 24 hours now.

    4th rounder, if that.

  9. wallacejay says: Mar 11, 2013 4:12 PM

    Bolden gone to niners

  10. ravenscaps48 says: Mar 11, 2013 4:12 PM

He is replacable. Everyone here threw a fit when Ozzie cut Derrick Mason, Todd Heap, Kelly Gregg…. Hear much from them after we did so?…. Nope! I always have faith in our front office.

Nevermind, 49ers just got him for a sixth round pick.

LOL and the Chess Match in the NFC West continues!

I’d love to know where all these “sources” have been coming from on this story. Every time people talk to Boldin he says the Ravens haven’t even talked to him, yet people are saying the sky is falling in Baltimore.

I’m calling it now, they’ll keep him and maybe even sign him to a short extention that converts part of his longer salary to a bonus to rduce his cap number.

  18. crownofthehelmet says: Mar 11, 2013 4:14 PM

The Ravens have 120 million reasons why they don’t need him. And the rest of the league is glad they’re so dumb.

The Super Bowl hangover has begun- Ravens will be lucky to go .500 next year.

Like most players who see dollars first, he’ll wake up in about 10 years and wonder what happened. See if Christian Ponder or Jake Locker take you to a Super Bowl, and when you’re sitting at 550 yards per season instead of 1,000 it’ll at least give you more time to sit and count stacks of cash. I’ll say this once: You’re NOT a $6 million dollar man. Bionic or otherwise.

going to the 9ers for a 6th…..the eagles needed to bring a presences like Bolden to this team

  22. FinFan68 says: Mar 11, 2013 4:16 PM

Now that is a trade Miami should consider. They have a spare 3rd and that would get it done if Boldin is willing to play under his current deal.

  23. wludford says: Mar 11, 2013 4:16 PM

Boldin to stay in purple… welcome to Minnesota.

  24. robdolphins says: Mar 11, 2013 4:16 PM

Good move by 49ers to pick him up for a 6 rd pick.

  25. ravenator says: Mar 11, 2013 4:18 PM

Last time I checked Boldin didnt throw the ball to himself. I’ll take a 6thrd pick as opposed to cutting Boldin and carrying dead money – take note Steelers

Flacco is stating, ” Hey atleast I got mine”

  27. kaeperdicking says: Mar 11, 2013 4:21 PM

Great move by the 9ers; welcome to the Bay Ara Boldin. You’ve killed us for years so now its time to help us. Crabtree, Manningham, and Boldin is a solid trio of threats. The 9ers need to redo his deal and get that $6.1 mil figure, or whatever it is, lower for 2013. Signing bonus time…

He is a great player and will be a plus in the locker room. A 6th rounder is well worth it. Harvin is young, but the risk is high. Boldin will serve his purposes in SF well for a few years. Well done by Baalke and Oz – he got a little something for a guy he would have to cut.

Roto is saying He has just been traded to the Niners for a 6th rd pick!!!

  29. seriousbizz says: Mar 11, 2013 4:23 PM

No one’s giving a 6th for the right to pay him $6 million

  30. seriousbizz says: Mar 11, 2013 4:23 PM

    well then… scratch that

  31. kgun80 says: Mar 11, 2013 4:31 PM

There will be more spin on this from raven fans than a roulette wheel. Ah yes Ravenator super Ozzie is drying off his feet after walking on water again… Crow is good with a little mustard peanut.
