The Giants won a pair of Super Bowls with cornerback Aaron Ross on the roster and they’ll try to go for the hat trick in 2013.

Mike Garafolo of USA Today reports that Ross will return to the Giants a year after he left the team for the Jaguars as a free agent. Ross was released by the Jags last week, one of several veteran defensive backs thrown onto the market as teams prepared for free agency.

Ross will join a cornerback corps that features Prince Amukamara, Corey Webster (who took a pay cut), Jayron Hosley and Terrell Thomas, who signed a new deal with the Giants after missing all of the 2012 season with the third torn ACL of his career. There are no financial terms known on the deal, although it likely isn’t that much based on Ross’ work in Jacksonville last season.

Because Ross was released by the Jags, he didn’t have to wait for the start of free agency to sign with a new -- or old as the case turned out to be -- team. He didn’t beat the clock by much on that front, but he did beat it.
