jonnydapat, if you think the Pats could get a 1rst for Mallett you’re in fantasy land. They would be lucky to get a 2nd right now. He’d have more value if the Pats kept him, got him on tape during the preseason(there’s very little tape now, Hoyer was the back up until the last cutdown last year), nd traded him next offseason when a team could sign him to a new contract(they can’t this yr). Only problem is the Pats could use extra picks this year.

Ryan Mallett is a first round talent. Bill B. stated that Mallett was the top rated QB on their board when drafted, he fell down in the draft because of suposed off field issues.If they let him go for anything less than a first rd. pick, they will regret it later. @tedmurph people said the same thing about Brady when Bledso went down.@FinFan68
Mallet for Weeden trade would make both teams happy, how? Weeden is useless to the pats, does’nt know the system and five years older.

I like Cassel as a backup, but I can see no logical reason for the Pats to move Mallet for equal or less than they used to draft him and replace him with Cassel. Makes no sense.

Mallett is a good young prospect. If Lombardi was serious, they could make a straight up trade. Weeden for Mallett. Both teams get what they would want (although Weeden would be bummed)

Don’t know why there hasn’t been more interest in this guy.

IMO, he was head and shoulders above this’ years crop of QB’s when he was drafted. He’ll only be better after a few years under Brady.

I know teams are hesitant to deal for NE QB’s after the Cassel debacle, but this guy might actually be worth a high second rounder.

Would be poor for Bucs or Browns. Pats only drafted him to flip him…not cause they thought he was good.

I wonder if the reason a team may be interested in Mallet would be to gain information about the Patriot’s offense – especially if it’s a team in the same division. I mean, Mallet has shown nothing on the field that would make him more appealing than any other 2nd or 3rd stringer out there.

They’ve coached Mallett up, tighting up his delivery etc., and he’s had some time to grow up. With only 3 picks in the 1rst 6 rnds the Pats could use the picks. I wouldn’t take less than a 2nd or a 3rd plus something, maybe conditional. I think Cassell wouyld sign back once he realizes nobody is gonna let him compete for a starting job. Who cares anyway, if Brady gets hurt they’re not going anywhere anyway.

This rumor has been out there for awhile. Lombardi loves Mallett and said he was the best QB in the 2011 draft.

Lets flip 1st round picks and call it at trade !

This report is total bull so far as the Bucs are concerned. They WILL NOT trade for a QB. They will not acquire revis either.

Mallett is worth a look for sure. He was considered 1st or 2nd round talent other than his “issues” which have probably been somewhat ironed out by the Brady / Belichick machine.

Riddle me this, Browns fans… who has a higher ceiling, Mallett or Weeden?

I think they need to make sure Weeden is complete and utter failure, before they do anything.. McCoy I guess was understandable as he was never a first round pick. However, you go out and spend a first round pick on a guy, you can’t just expect him to show up his rookie year and blow the league up. Sure recently we have seen guys do this, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t still great QB’s out there, that need a couple of years for the NFL game to slow down for them.

Mallet would have been a 1st rounder if he wasn’t a tool off the field. Seems odd that no team hasn’t offered enough to get him as he has had no issues in the NFL. If he went to either of these teams he would start.
