Delanie Walker agrees with Titans

On Tuesday, the Titans agreed to terms with a tight end with good speed.

However, we’re not talking about Jared Cook.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Tuesday that Tennessee has struck a four-year deal with 49ers free agent Delanie Walker.

Walker hauled in 21 passes for 344 yards and three TDs for San Francisco in 2012. Nine of his receptions went for 20 yards or more. He added two catches of 20-plus yards in the postseason.

Walker checked in at No. 67 on PFT’s Free Agent Hot 100 — which, at this point, needs to be handled with oven mitts.

Cook, who ranks No. 18 on our list, has been expected to have robust market. And should he sign elsewhere, the Titans have protected themselves.

  1. While he is a great blocker he has some of the worst hands in the nfl. He is statistically the worst pass catching te in the nfl. SF will not miss him that much.

  2. Delanie Walker is one of my favorite players in the league. Great at special teams, great at blocking and good at recieving. Hope he fights through the pain of losing his uncle and aunt to a stupid a$$ drunk driver and has the best season of his career in Tennesse

  3. He will be missed. Hopefully for the Titans he can get over his major case of the dropsees. He did bulk up this season so hopefully he will get used to his body #latepuberty

  4. I’m sorry but I just finished with the Vatican Conclave a few minutes ago. Did I miss anything??

  5. Amazing that the players (mostly) value a few $$$ over a SB Ring.

As fans we were all brought up that the ring was the thing… nope!

Delanie knows he will never win anything in Titanland with Jake Locker as the QB…

  6. Underrated intangibles, below average receiving skills. Hope he works on his hands and plays well this year, in honor of his aunt and uncle who were tragically killed following the super bowl.

    Good luck man!

  7. A laughable signing. No one should expect more for this lowly franchise. Jealous of our splendor?

  8. FLAVORDAVE, are you really that big of loser to comment on all of these threads. The Eagles don’t even want you as a fan.

I like how you’re ignoring that the Titans are paying him more than the 49ers would… because he’ll be starting. Hmm more playing time and more money?

Nah, I’ll backup and maybe win a SB in a few years.

  10. The past few years, we’ve been hearing all about Jared Cook’s tremendous upside. And increasingly, we’ve seen flashes. But truth be told, he’s under-delivered on that hype every year. That said, I don’t mind swapping him out for Delanie Walker, who’s promising in his own right.

  11. Delanie is a GREAT pickup. Overshadowed in SF by Davis – he is a stud. We will miss him.

I concur, he is an imbecile that makes us look bad.

  13. Let’s see, Steeler troll on a topic not even remotely related to his team, boasting of his team’s splendor over the “lowly” team that beat his almighty 8-8 ’12 Steelers six months ago. Yup, sounds like its par for the course here.

Walker should also help out the Titans run game, he’s always been a good run blocker in every Niners game I’ve watched the last few years.

  14. Dropped too many passes (including a big one in the end zone that would have won the second game vs. the Rams) to deserve a big raise. Classic free agency overpay. DW’s role was not the classic NFL story. Came to SF as a big wide receiver from a tiny school and just hung around for years as Alex Smith and the offense struggled with lame offensive coaches before Harbaugh arrived. His blocking really improved and is good at special teams. Too short to be the main guy at TE though at around six feet. Seems like Titans rushed into this with better options out there. They agreed about an hour after FA started? Looks like DW’s agent won this one.

Yeah bro…I’m sure Delanie Walker would rather live on skid row, next to your cardboard box, in order to keep his Happy Days Fonz points.

    Ehhhhhh!

  16. and so it begins!! the niners chances of winning a superbowl shrink everytime they lose a key cog in their offense and replace it with older slower talent, remember how the raiders sacrificed everything to win in 2003? then due to bloated salaries they had to disassemble the team after a superbowl loss, i see this happening to the 49ers in the next handful of years.

I recall that lowly franchise beatin pitts last yr which ultimately ended pitts run at a playoff berth. Harf! Harf! Harf! And i bet u chaulked that game up as a W beforehand. Enjoy the splendor of losing wallace and harrison. Clown.

  18. Walker is a good pick up for the Titans.

A word of warning to the Titans’ QB, hit Delany in the numbers and don’t expect him to ‘catch’ with his hands.

But he will be extremely helpful to CJ because Delany is a great blocking TE.

    Good luck.

  19. He’s a good player but lacks consistency. He drops a lot of passes but he is a solid ST’s player. Hopefully he can improve.

  20. Good bye skillet hands… Thanks for the outstanding special teams play . Will miss the down field blocking. A value player who can do a lot of different things on the field including tackle ! Very durable as well. Stone hands.
