Bart Scott, Derrick Mason, Todd Heap, Kelley Gregg, Ben Grubbs, Tom Zibikowski, LaRon McLain, Jarrett Johnson, Landry, Corey Redding – every year the Ravens lose free agents and every year I see the same clowns and chicken littles spewing how the sky is falling and it is all over for the Ravens. I remember these same people posting how dismal our offseason was last year for “only” signing Corey Graham and Jacoby Jones. Actually, I remember a bunch of the “BigBenNoFoolSteelyMcpheeliePrimanti” and other hater posters laughing at the “inept” signing of Jacoby.

In recent years the Ravens just keep responding with division titles, playoff victories and a Super Bowl trophy. I don’t judge the Ravens current offseason or upcoming draft until the following season and sometimes two seasons after. I’m still basking in the glow of the Lombardi and not worrying about a thing. In Oz I trust.

Newsome and Reese are the two best GMs in each conference. Neither goes out and buys up big names galore. Just plugs in pieces for detail, draft properly and develop internally. That’s why the Ravens are always in contention and why my guys have won two in five years, and blew two golden opportunities to have had four (Burress in ’08 and the collective set of OFF years that everyone on offense had this year).

But keep on telling yourselves this has nothing to do with Flacco, Ravens fans.

Please. Forgive me for being skeptical of anyone saying “one and done” when the goalposts were moved to “two and done” and so forth with every Ravens playoff win. Why don’t you worry about hemorrhaging your own free agents while signing has-beens.

One note: I do question the Flacco contract, but it really is just a 3 year deal. Regardless, he’s won more postseason games the last five years than your QB.

The Ravens knew they had to get younger. Obviously they wished to retain Ellerbee but now they can offer more to Reed to get him to stay and get younger through the draft because they feel Flacco is on the upswing in the twilight of the Careers of Brady and Manning

We cut Carolos Dansby (injured, age 32 and cost $6.3M against the cap). For a young beast that cost pretty much the same… next up who we gonna sign now ???

3 starting LBs gone? Boldin gone. Birk. And you draft at the back. I’ve never seen a team pay so much for a SB win, and the Steelers stunk after both recent SB wins. Ravens go 1-5 in AFC North next season.

Foote was a starter on the number 1 D last year. Is he patrick willis? No. But he’s 30 or 31 with a few years of solid play left.

Burress is a 1 yr vet min deal. If he sucks in camp (or if they are able to draft young replacements), he’s gone. He also gives them a valuable big red zone target they previously lacked. Whats the downside there?

The steelers had 5 losses by 3 points and another one by 6 in which they had 8 fumbles and 3 picks. Go ahead and think they fell off a cliff if you want…i’d be more worried about my team losing 7 starters at least, including your two defensive leaders…
