The Jets will take an immediate $12M cap hit when Revis is traded. They’ll lose a net of $3M on the 2013 cap but that’ll close the books on him, no cap hit in 2014.

Jets just cut Pouha, which saves them 3.8 mil on the cap. If the Revis deal goes down, that’s another 9 mil off the Jets number.

Just ballpark, but I think that would put the Jets about 21-22 mil under the cap.

Idzik gets this Revis deal done, and it looks like a good bit of the prior GM’s mess will be cleaned up.

Jets have a good draft, (they’re looking at QB Nissib in the 2nd rnd) jettison Sanchez/Holmes next off season, Fireman Ed could be back in the building.

I think it is a joke that they care if revis goes to the giants. They aren’t in the same division yet alone same conference. I would think that the giants could care less if a free agent went to the jets. They play eachother every four years. Jets are pathetic.

Some people just love to prove how stupid they are. Revis for a third? How retarded?

The Jets could keep him and let him play out his contract. The comp pick would be a third in a stronger draft. It would also be about 3 Million less on the Jets cap if they kept him.

Revis isn’t going for less than two #2′s, but more likely a two this year and a conditional pick that could be a #1 next year or a #1 this year and a second pick this year or next. Most likely the Jets will get a deal similar (slightly better) to what the Vikes got for Harvin.

With Revis going down last year the Jets still managed to be the 2nd best pass defense in the NFL behind the Steelers. The Jets are doing the right thing by trading him. You don’t pay that type of money to player that does not affect the outcome of the game. With a great pass rush you could have a average secondary. Just look at the Giants…2011 when the defensive line was taking down QB’s their secondary was fine…last year the D line didn’t play well and all of a sudden Giant fans was screaming the secondary sucks!! But it was the very same secondary that won the Super Bowl just one year before. Jets spend your money on players closest to the ball, not on some CB diva.

The team with the “good offer” is taking a huge gamble. Even if he loses less than half a step to this injury, it’ll be too much for his position. Even then you most likely won’t know till 6-8 games into the season. Then you gotta give him a new deal before you know how good he’ll be.

There is no offer, this is the jets trying to drum up one. notice one thing keeps getting mentioned: letting him walk to the Patriots, Dolphins, Bills or Giants. the jets ownership are so afraid of the shadow of other teams in their division or team they share a stadium and city with that they show their cowardice at every move. who says he will walk to any of these four teams? and when have any of these four teams been intrested in overpaying DBs.
