Lions place second-round tender on Willie Young

The Lions could have a vastly different look at defensive end next season. Detroit released veteran end Kyle Vanden Bosch earlier in the offseason, and Cliff Avril and Lawrence Jackson are slated to become unrestricted free agents.

However, you can just about pencil Willie Young onto the club’s DE depth chart for 2013. The Lions have given him the second-round restricted agent tender, a decision that likely keeps him in Detroit. The move was reported by Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com.

The 27-year-old Young has never started an NFL game, but the Lions clearly like the potential of the 2010 seventh-round pick. A bigger role appears within his reach.
