Getty ImagesIt was just a short time ago that we passed along word on the Bears’ reported interest in tight end Martellus Bennett.
We can go ahead and take the reported off of that interest. Bennett didn’t wait long after the official start of free agency to send out a tweet announcing that he’ll be headed to the Bears so that he could play with his “other brother” Brandon Marshall. And then a short time later he clarified his earlier tweet.
No deal done. Just know that's where I wanna be.

Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune reports that Bennett, who ranks 21st on PFT’s list of the top 100 free agents this offseason, has an agreement in principle in place with the Bears already and that he’s expected to be in Chicago to meet with the team on Tuesday. Barring some catastrophe during that meeting, it would seem that it won’t be too long before Bennett’s making an official announcement that he’s the newest member of the Bears.

If the Eagles wanted him, he would be an Eagle. But he was undeserving. Move on to the scrapheap .
Marshall is his brother?
Interesting didn’t know his Brother was Brandon Marshall
Great Move!
I like it.
First day of free agency last season — Phil Emery trades for Brandon Marshall.
First day of free agency this season — Phil Emery signs Martellus Bennet.
Bennett still hates everybody.
Now all the Bears need to do is sign eight new offensive lineman to keep Cutler upright long enough to throw it to him and his bro.
“Other” brother. Not “Older” brother.
No relation.
I hope he has learned a work ethic. He has all the tools otherwise. Go Bears!
Hey FlavorDave, don’t the Eagles want him?
On a serious note, this will be a good one…Kellen Davis needs a new home, one that can teach him how to catch.
Good move by Bennett to get out of the same division as the Redskins. Everyone knows no one else has a chance in the NFC East.
Wow, that’s going to be one big group of whiny babies next season when teh bears don’t win….. Cutler, B-Marsh and Bennett all ready to throw each other under the bus at the drop of a hat.
Cutler, Marshall, Bennett? Is Soldier Field big enough for those three egos?
that loud noise america just heard is NY banging their heads collectivly on the wall after our free agent moves today!
and ps why is it in every post theres 2 trolls.. 1 eagle fan and 1 redskin fan..
take Q from the giants..shut up and win superbowls HAHA. 2 for us in 6 years.. 0 for eagles EVER and 0 for skins in a long long long time
Sucks to lose him but I had a feeling we wouldn’t be able to afford him. He should be productive in Chicago … if Cutler isn’t getting mauled on every passing down.
Bennett is all about potential that never comes to fruition. The Bears have dumpster dived for ex Cowboys before who were done in the NFL, like Roy Williams and Barber.
Giants took Bennett (another TE off the scrap heap) and Mike Pope made him successful. No one ever heard of Kevin Boss or Jake Ballard before Pope and Eli started working with them. The next Giant tight end, whoever it is, will run circles around Bennett’s Chicago career.
Like most the players that run off from the Giants for more money you will probably fail and be cut in 2 years. Steve Smith, Mario Stoninghands, Kevin Boss oh and welcome back Arron Ross.
Its been rumored Bennett can sometimes count all the way up to 9. The Giants normally like their players a bit more intelligent.
The Bedpan is the perfect stadium for this turd.
