Peyton Hillis visits the Packers

The Packers could use a running back, and Peyton Hillis could use a job. So perhaps Hillis will land in Green Bay.

It’s at least a possibility, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Hillis is visiting the Packers.

After a breakout season in Cleveland in 2010, when Hillis had 1,177 rushing yards, 47 receiving yards and 13 total touchdowns, Hillis has been a disappointment the last two years. In 2011 Hillis quickly wore out his welcome with the Browns while averaging 3.6 yards a carry, and in 2012 Hillis tried and failed to re-energize his career in Kansas City, also averaging 3.6 yards a carry and gaining just 309 yards as a backup.

Hillis has become such a forgotten man that there’s been no buzz around him in free agency at all. But perhaps Green Bay can be his fourth stop in the NFL — and the place where he turns his career around.

  1. As a long time Chiefs fan, I wonder where they actually found a picture of Hillis running with the ball to put in this article?

  2. The Pack needs someone…anyone in the backfield to take the heat off of Rodgers. I’m sure they would prefer Jackson but Hillis is an upgrade over what they have.

    Also, the Eagles suck. K.C.C.O.!

  3. ” perhaps Green Bay can be his fourth stop in the NFL — and the place where he turns his career around. ”

ummm… wouldn’t Green Bay be his third stop, not fourth? lol

  4. Hillis and Kuhn have no chance beating the Eagles in the NFC championship game this year. This just doesnt help the Pack. And for that Im glad. Just educating you quasi football fans with Philly knowledge

  5. I sure hope it’s just a visit. Hillis was a one year wonder and has too much trouble holding on to the football.

Any amount of money they are considering paying Hillis they should just add to a signing bonus to make sure Sam Shields sticks around.

  6. Hollis was a one-year flash. The Madden Curse finished him off. Somebody put it in his head that he was worth $7 million a year. He went through four agents before he became a free agent. He was a wasted signing with the Chiefs.
His only hope is to accept a minimum one year contract or he’s done in the NFL.

  7. Ted Thompson should join the Pawn Stars cast. He could walk around all day saying, “Theirs no way I’m paying that!”
Hell, he’s pretty much the pawn broker of the NFL.

Nick Foles for MVP too, right?

  9. I’d rather they keep Benson. We don’t want another 3 ypc back we already have plenty of those. Draft Lacy keep Dujuan Harris, release the rest of them.

  10. I’d rather pass all 4 downs than have Ted sign this guy.

His head is much bigger than his production (largely thanks to us Packers fans that voted him Madden cover boy rather than take the jynx of Madden breaking our QB)!

  11. The only reason the Pack can’t beat the iggles in the NFC Championship is because Philly has no chance of being in the NFC Championship

“Hillis and Kuhn have no chance beating the Eagles in the NFC championship game this year.”

Because the Eagles won’t be there.

  13. Can’t we just roll with the Cedric/Dujuan combo for a year – then draft a runningback.

I’m more concerned with our run blocking… No one can succeed in the backfield if no one up front is getting any push.

  14. Look, I’m glad the Packers are looking to make some moves (althought they haven’t done anything yet) in free agency, but a running back is not the answer. They need to be looking at upgrading at LT and C. The run game will never improve until they upgrade the OL and hire an actual OL coach.
I’m a huge Packers fan but I don’t expect them to make another run at a SB until these problems get addressed.
