Brandon Marshall had nothing to do with the Greg Olsen trade. Olsen was traded away for a 3rd rounder only a few years after being a 1st round pick. Marshall was acquired for two 3rd rounders.

OK, to clarify:

1 of the 2 3rd rounders traded for Brandon Marshall was directly due to trading Greg Olsen to the Panthers, so I guess he DID have something to do with acquiring Brandon Marshall after all .

The Bears would not have re-signed Olsen at the salary he was asking for due to the missing production on the field. They would be signing him for his future potential. He went on to accomplish more of the same in Carolina, so they basically got a 3rd round draft pick in exchange for 1 year of sub-par blocking and 4 touchdowns. Do you get your football info from Bleacher Report?

Greg Olsen at roughly $5 million plus a 3rd round pick <<<<<<< Brandon Marshall at $9 mil.

Reese is the best talent evaluator in the NFL. Nobody pulls talent from obscurity better. Boothe from Colgate, Cruz from UMass, Linval Joseph from ECU, Blackburn from Akron, AB from Marshall, Jacobs from Southern Illinois, the list goes on and on.

It’s the reason why Giants’ FAs are always the most sought after. It’s also the reason why I pray they extend Cruz already.
