Vikings reach two-year deal with Erin Henderson

Erin Henderson AP

The Vikings have agreed to re-sign linebacker Erin Henderson a two-year contract, PFT’s Mike Florio confirmed Tuesday.

The Vikings’ weak side linebacker, the 26-year-old Henderson played 14 games (10 starts) in 2012, recording a career-high 80 tackles and defending three passes.  He has started 21 games in the last two seasons for Minnesota.

The Vikings have emphasized re-signing their own players early in the offseason. In addition to Henderson, the Vikings have kept right tackle Phil Loadholt, fullback Jerome Felton and wideout Jerome Simpson.

I like the idea of keeping some of our drafted players around that are comfortable with our system (and want to play here). I’m wondering what the whole front with Jennings is, did we offer him anything? I like the way we’ve handled the last few days thus far but we still have some major holes in some very important roles. You have to believe there’s a significant plan that’s being executed with cutting Winfield( great player btw). Let’s all hold our judgement until all this has unfolded. Go brownton bruins!

I can see signing back your key free-agents : Loadholt, Felton, etc. — but one of the worst players on the team?? come on

I hate how Vikings fans are freaking out about the lack of a big splash.

The Patriots, Packers, and Steelers never sign overpriced free agents. Give Spielman a chance with the bounty of draft picks.

Previous “FREE AGENCY WINNERS” include the Tampa Bay Bucs and the Philadelphia Eagles. How’s that working out?

Great! Except we lost our #1 WR and our #1 DB who is also the leader on Defense…

NEED to get something at WR. Pretty sure Simpson wasn’t the answer last year and is nothing more then a role player at best.

Loadholt, Simpson, Felton and now Erin Henderson.

    Dumpster diving with Rick Spielman.

i think its been a great offseason for the vikes. restructured carlson’s contract, signed loadholt, felton and henderson and got pretty good value for percy. not sure about simpson but im willing to give him another year considering we have no one right now at WR. I assume at least one of our 1st round picks will be spent on a wideout.
i am also hoping that we can get antoine back, that was a bit of a stab when i saw he was cut.

We have a goal for you this year erin. You need to make more impact plays than you spend days in the kfan studio. Better work harder this offseason or schedule less days on air.

Great for the Vikings. Erin’s football IQ is among the highest in the league and he is a character player. As for WR is everybody forgetting that in this offence TE is really the key receiver? All of the division is gearing for a passing game and AP showed that it is the RUN game that gets you to the playoffs. We will have to get a corner but something sneaky is going on with that one…

#1 defensive back???? 5 years ago maybe. Part time player, get over it. I must be one of the few enlightened that can see moving Harvin for what we got was a good move. Now if we bomb on the pick, then you MMQB can start chirping. Be a fan. Quit the whining. Good gosh.
