The Vikings have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with wide receiver Jerome Simpson, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old Simpson has starter-caliber talent but hasn’t always lived up to his potential. He hauled in 26 passes for 274 yards and no TDs in 12 games (10 starts) for Minnesota in 2012.

With Percy Harvin en route to Seattle, the Vikings’ wide receiving corps is in need of some major help, and their moves to strengthen the position wouldn’t figure to stop here. Nevertheless, this appears to be a good opportunity for Simpson, who could really give the Vikings a nice lift in the passing game if he could recapture the form he flashed in the final three games of 2010, when he hauled in 20 passes for 277 yards and three touchdowns for Cincinnati.
