Getty ImagesThe Broncos continue to push their chips into the middle of the table.
On the heels of inking receiver Wes Welker to a two-year deal, the Broncos have added veteran cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to the roster.
According to Adam Schefter, Rodgers-Cromartie signed a one-year deal.
The former first-rounder of the Cardinals, who was sent to the Eagles in the Kevin Kolb trade, presumably becomes this year’s Tracy Porter in Denver.
The Broncos also were interested in former Eagles cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha. The acquisition of Rodgers-Cromartie would seem to suggest the Broncos aren’t.
Then again, we wouldn’t put anything past the Broncos, who seem to be determined to make a serious play for the Super Bowl in 2013.

Nnamdi to KC
Nice pick up.
I’m happy for Peyton Manning that he finally has a GM who’s willing to actually try to improve his team during an offseaason with free agents instead of drafting “best player available” in positions of little need and just relied on him to cover up all their holes for a decade. 2-14 told the story…
This Broncos team is going all in to get a ring. Good luck to them.
Donkyville is getting serious..
Take a knee Manning !!!
Uh oh…dream team?
Is this guy really any better than an average starter in the NFL?
Stupidheads. Have fun being quit on in big games.
Dream Team 2.5?
I know the Eagle secondary was awful last year but I refuse to believe that… RDC a former pro bowler, Nmandi a former shut down corner, a 1st round pick and a second round pick ALL LOST THEIR FOOTBALL SKILLS IN ONE YEAR. You have to believe the system had a lot to do with it.
Finally, the move that needed to be made. One more defensive upgrade and this defense will be top 5 again easily.
a 1 year deal? Is the market imploding as we speak?
It’s a shame it took peyton this long to get a decent front office.
Nice follow up to Welker. Nice day for Denver.
Broncos are gearing up for what could be the last chance at the big rodeo for a while.
Just win Broncos!
The rich get richer… and richer
Another good signing by the Donkeys. The only that could possibly stop a Super Bowl run is if they’d previously signed a future HOF QB who played like Johnny Unitas meets Jesus in a dome but turned into Mark Sanchez in cold weather games.
Good thing that didn’t happen.
He wasn’t that bad in philly. He just can’t play slot and isn’t really a good tackler, however, he is extremely athletic and has good size. I’m sure he’ll do better with a better defense in Denver.
Can’t wait for this train wreck to happen. All these FA’s. Puh-Pow!
goodluck, we dont want him anymore
A ton of talent and not an ounce of heart. At least the Broncos only committed to one year with that loser. Good riddance from Eagles fans everywhere!
Broncos better get it done this upcoming season, because they are going to have some serious cap issues in the near future with all these big name guys they are signing.
But how many chips is Elway actually pushing in? I thought he gambled last year with Peyton Manning – more was on the line then.
Deals w/ Welker, DRC, Knighton, & their own DT Vick didn’t break the bank. $6 million for Welker? One year for DRC?
It kind of feels like the same 3 or 4 teams are signing EVERYBODY.
Man, Broncos are going all in.
It looks to be a loooong season in Chargerville….
Cromartie cousins, theyre so talented at playing the ball. If only they had their acts straight, that and learning how to tackle.
Man, there are going to be a lot of good late games (4pm et)! I’m gonna have to try real hard to stay awake!
Dream team?
DRC is a really good cornerback who played on a bad Eagles defense with that goofy wide 9 alignment.
Oy vey.
Peyton Manning is turning 37 this month. The Broncos know that as great as Manning is, he’s only getting older. If the Broncos want another Super Bowl ring anytime soon, the time is now for them to try to get it done.
As a Chargers fan… my goodness how much cap room do they have? Why even bother playing the season, it doesn’t seem fair to me. We get stuck with Jared Gaither & his wasted money, hopefully he decides to play this year, or just go straight to jail like monopoly. So much to look forward too lol
Meh, at least it’s just one year…the Broncos don’t need another Tracy Porter…maybe playing for a decent team for once will help him be successful…
Rodgers-Cromartie will generate quite a few highlight clips because he will face the Raiders twice next year and the NFL 32nd strength of schedule.
Great move, he will command above average money next year during free agency.
Rodgers-Cromartie was part of another offseason in which the team pushed all “their chips into the middle of the table” following an exciting regular season, albeit a one and done playoff appearance, right? Here’s hoping the second time is the charm!
(And that he doesn’t let a WR basically only capable of running go routes run right past him naked in the closing seconds of a playoff game.)
No freaking way the Broncos don’t win the AFC WEST, I don’t care if Tebow is the QB
Another Low-Risk high reward signing,Elway is showing you how’s it’s done he’s getting quality players at low prices on short term contracts gotta love it!!!
#BroncosNation
All these key signings without going after high priced Wallace, revis, long or avril. Now all we need is a RB and then the broncos could just draft best players available and develop stars out of them. You gotta admit that the broncos are the big winners in FA, they’ve spent less on 5 players than the dolphins spent on Wallace. These may not be top if the line players but they are a big upgrade from what they had before. The only downgrading would be if dumervil goes, he should at all cost stay in denver.
As an Eagles fan, I would have welcomed back DRC with open arms compared to the reception I would give to Nnamdi. When I look at the free agent options at CB, while also evaluating who we currently have, I’m really starting to think we’ll be employing the services of Dee Milliner in next month’s draft.
Chris Houston is better. Just sayin’
he was one of the problems in philly buddy. bronco fans don’t get your hopes up dudes not constant good luck with his immature attitude and holding penalties
There’s only one Nation, and it ain’t broncos nation.
The broncos have a good chance of going undefeated this year. No one in there conference should give them a problem. There is no real threat to them on the rest of there schedule. A hand full of teams have gotten better this off season. 3 of them were already contenders(San Fran, Seahawks, Broncos). The rest of the Leauge only got worse. Add the patriots to this mix and we have are conference championships. Shocking manning vs Brady.
Smart to give him a one year deal. When he gets comfortable he seems to get lazy
This guys gonna look like a all pro twice a year against the Raiders..”Commitment To Excrement”
A lot of free agents and an easy schedule. I predict the broncos will still disappoint
good lord, by now you would think the dream team line would be unfunny and dead….
Broncos will go to the superbowl but i dont think they can take any of the top 5 nfc teams.
wow thus offseason keeps getting better! I just hope I get up tomorrow and read that Dumervil restructured and we signed Steven Jackson or Beanie Wells!
Cant buy a Super Bowl in free agency. Many have tried
Denver is getting some good names but none of these guys are spring chickens. They have a good shot at success but not even Elway knows what this team will look like after the 2014 season.
They remind me of the 2003 florida marlins..trying to buy a superbowl in two years with un originial talent except for von miller and then they ll implode.
DRC is a very talented CB, when he chooses to play. Best of luck in Denver! He did it in both AZ and Philly. Maybe he’ll get it together and play this season.
I think you’re wrong Nnamdi lost a step and there is no question about that. 1st year it was the excuse they didnt use him the right way and the second year they did and he was still awful giving up a 120.6 QBR against him. DRC had 1 good season and there was a reason the cardinals gave him up in the Kevin Kolb trade and Philly gave up on him. DRC has so much talent but doesn’t have a brain and that will hold him back.
I’m smelling Denver over the Pats at home AND the Niners over the Falcons in SF…..for an epic Super Bowl rematch with the Niners getting it done this time around!
Here come the team chemistry issues.
Our defense has veteran leadership that can keep him in line. With a 1-year contract, he has a lot to prove and I think he will.

good lord, by now you would think the dream team line would be unfunny and dead….
Tiki Barber is flabbergasted
Another name with really mediocre game. Get ready to watch him chasing receivers into the end zone.
I know that few Super Bowls are won in free agency, but some are won by adding one great player to a good mix. Elway surely remembers that the Broncos went from SB zeros to heroes when they drafted Terrell Davis…
DRC is a solid addition. Welker is a brilliant addition plus he’s a subtraction from the Pats. The Dumervil loss is gonna sting, but if they can shore up at RB they’ve got a real shot.
Remember the last time a team tried to buy a Super Bowl?
If I were a Denver fan I wouldn’t be too excited about this pickup. Yes, the Eagles’ D was horrible last year but it’s not like he didn’t contribute to that. He was getting beat a lot and not just by the top receivers on teams. This guy has all the talent in the world but just can’t put it together.
Good job only signing him for one year though.
This is how Denver won their two Super Bowls, by circumventing the salary cap.
That’s not hating, that’s a fact.
A year from now, the league will bring the hammer down on them, just like before.
I wonder if Peter King will pick the Chiefs to win the division again this year like he did last year….what an idiot.
Don’t matter what moves the Donkeys make….as long as they have Pay-a-ton “mental midget” woManning at QB, they won’t win a title.
SEVEN 1-and-dones. 9-11 postseason record.
