Cardinals sign Drew Stanton to three-year deal

The Cardinals have added another competitor to a crowded group at quarterback.

Drew Stanton, formerly the Colts’ backup quarterback, signed a three-year contract with Arizona, agent Mike McCartney said Wednesday.

Stanton didn’t play in a regular-season game with Indianapolis a season ago, but he did work with then-Colts offensive coordinator / interim head coach Bruce Arians.

Now, Stanton will reunite with Arians.

With Stanton joining the mix, the Cardinals have five quarterbacks: Stanton, Brian Hoyer (a restricted free agent), Kevin Kolb, John Skelton and Ryan Lindley. Clearly, they won’t be keeping all of them.

The 28-year-old Stanton garnered the final spot in PFT’s Free Agent Hot 100.
