APThe Jaguars signed Bears free agent linebacker Geno Hayes to a one-year deal on Wednesday, the team said.
The team also confirmed the release of wide receiver Laurent Robinson, a move reported earlier in the day.
The 25-year-old Hayes will work again with Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley. When Hayes broke into the NFL in 2008 with Tampa Bay, Bradley was the Buccaneers’ linebackers coach.
Hayes (6-1, 226) started three games at strong-side linebacker late in the 2012 campaign for Chicago. Overall, he recorded 16 defensive tackles and five special-teams stops in 15 games with the Bears.
In five NFL seasons, Hayes has racked up 273 tackles on defense along with 17 passes defensed, four forced fumbles and four interceptions. He played with the Bucs from 2008 through 2011 before the one-season stint in Chicago.

Bob Babich was also the LB coach of the Bears.
He’s now the defensive coordinator of the Jaguars. This move makes sense.
GREAT pick-up JAX! Great former Nole Playing alongside POZ. Hopefully D. Smith returns for cheap. That would be a great trio of LB’s.
Who wants to play for the Jaguars?
Best of luck for him, I liked him when he was a Buc! Decent guy not a bad ball player plus he is a FSU product, so I hope he succeed.
Apparently, Geno Hayes.
Good luck to him.
First thought that came to my mind was…who?
no other team wanted geno hayes, dont worry Luck and Ballard will be running over this scrub soon, jags are always afc south red headed step child!!!
Did you just say Vick Ballard will be running over people? We talking about the same Vick Ballard?
Darryl Smith won’t be back with the Jags. It will be Hayes and Julian Stanford on the outside. Very similar players, smallish, fast, and athletic.
Geno Hayes is a middle of the pack type of player. The Jag’s are delusional if they think he’s going to be an above average starter on defense. There’s definately worse choices out there, but, they didn’t win the lottery with this one. For Geno Hayes’ sake, I hope I’m wrong and he tears it up in Jacksonville!
Pretty young for 5 seasons in.
Goodbye Russell Allen.
Geno who????
