Jets, Dolphins chasing Brandon Gibson

Rams coach Jeff Fisher has lamented the absence of potent weapons for quarterback Sam Bradford, and yet some of the only potent weapons the Rams had are walking away.

Receiver Brandon Gibson is a free agent, and he’s drawing early interest.  Per Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Gibson will visit the Jets on Wednesday.

If Gibson can’t strike a deal with the Jets, he’ll hop a plane for South Florida, where the Dolphins could keep expanding their free-agent haul.

In 16 games with 13 starts, Gibson caught 51 passes for 691 yards and five touchdowns.

New York’s interest likely traces to the fact that Gibson started his career in Philly, working with new Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg.

The Dolphins are going insane, they have a billion draft picks too…why don’t they just wait and draft somebody…..

  2. jmbresky says: Mar 13, 2013 8:17 AM

Dolphins need to work on signing Fred Davis or Benjamin Watson. Gibson would be nice to just so the Jets don’t get him.

  3. cooklynn17 says: Mar 13, 2013 8:19 AM

My guess is the Dolphins win again…

  4. edgarcaetano says: Mar 13, 2013 8:34 AM

Dolphins want everyone?!?! this can lead to no good…poor fans..

Should be a easy choice for Gibson. Fun in the sun with Tannehill or…. the butt fumbler.

  6. 69finfan says: Mar 13, 2013 8:41 AM

Brandon, don’t sign anything in NY today. Come to So Bch, check things out, see what the Fins offer, compare and then make your decision, in favor of Miami. Go Fins!

Lol phins driving up the price so they can steal keller out from under their noses

jets fans are “green” with envy right now

  8. lordrevis says: Mar 13, 2013 8:47 AM

didnt you report the jets were in cap hell a few weeks ago? how can they afford to go after anyone?
oh wait, the Jets are $15-20m UNDER the cap, without guaranteeing a single dollar beyond 2014.

  9. kane337 says: Mar 13, 2013 8:48 AM

I’m guessing the Dolphins take a corner at 12…

  10. multiplemiggs says: Mar 13, 2013 8:49 AM

LOL you figured theyd learn a thing or two from the Marlins

  11. sclazo says: Mar 13, 2013 8:54 AM

Who wants to join the circus known as the jets?

  12. jimmyt says: Mar 13, 2013 8:55 AM

Has it not been proven enough times that you simply cannot buy a championship?

  13. Max says: Mar 13, 2013 8:57 AM

ok Ireland calm down, you got Hartline already… focus on 6’5″ possession guy for the Red Zone.

  14. brutus9448 says: Mar 13, 2013 9:02 AM

at minimum the dolphins will drive the price up for gibson. So the Jets will probably have to pay more than they intended for this guy

  15. nyjad says: Mar 13, 2013 9:09 AM

the fins are looking at gibson too? even after signing wallace and hartline. Plus, they still have bess. wtf, looks like a philly “dream team” redux to me!!

  16. lostsok says: Mar 13, 2013 9:17 AM

I wonder if Ireland is trying to cover all the positions so he can use extra picks to move up. Oakland could use extra picks, and Milliner at #3 would fit really nicely.

  17. riseabovecancer says: Mar 13, 2013 9:36 AM

Doesn’t matter who the Miami Dolphins sign in Free agency. They are still going to be the only team in NFL History to lose 10+ games a season.

That is how bad the Miami Dolphins suck

If Dan Marino couldn’t lead them to a Super Bowl Victory….LMFAO!!!! Who the heck will to lead this SUCKY football team to one….

Why do you think the Miami Marlins traded away all there best players for farm system players

  18. chucksports says: Mar 13, 2013 9:50 AM

The Phins chase yet another unproven player to appease the fan base and still lose

  19. heat256 says: Mar 13, 2013 10:04 AM

Milliner may possibly be there at 12, if not there is Xavier Rhodes or Johnthan Banks or Desmond Trufant later on. Fins still have OL, DE and TE plus depth to go after. No need to give up extra picks to move up unless it’s for a player that will be special.

  20. lifelongfinfan says: Mar 13, 2013 10:11 AM

Dolphins will be going 4 wide in WR formations!!! It will be good, plus Brandon Gibson can be used as a half back I am guessing. Keller come on down!!!

  21. thewizardofbs says: Mar 13, 2013 10:14 AM

all you fin haters can laugh at us but your fans are quick to come to south florida when your team plays us and you then have to leave and go back to your cold weather back country home and we are still in miami. Who’s laughing now?

  22. thelastpieceofcheese says: Mar 13, 2013 10:17 AM

At this rate it won’t be long before we hear cries of “break up the Dolphins.”

  23. harry1941 says: Mar 13, 2013 10:35 AM

Sanchez might get better under Marty Mornhinweg. The Jets should sign Brandon Gibson. I want the Jets to draft UNC RB Giovani Bernard. They can build the offense around him. Dump RB Green on Miami

  24. carpediaz says: Mar 13, 2013 10:36 AM

It’s funny how everyone is saying “The Dolphins want everyone, it’s only gonna hurt them”. If it was the Patriots or Packers going balls out like the Dolphins they’d be all about it. Further proves that people just like to follow a lead instead of accept the truth. The Dolphins are making moves, and its moves are to make the team and organization better. We’re coming in fast like a pod of Dolphins in the pristine blue Miami ocean. Look out. Last season wasn’t a one time stint. We lost close games in OT because of a FG. Remember that. We may not have finished strong, but we still gave good teams a good game.

  25. finsphan says: Mar 13, 2013 11:13 AM

Doesn’t anyone realize bess’s contract expires next year and he will be more expensive than Gibson would be. Why is it when Ireland was not signing anyone people were pissed, now he is signing good young players and still, people are crying.

  26. newyorkfootballjets says: Mar 13, 2013 12:19 PM

How much a year for wallace lmao the next stallworth

At the end of the day, when the Jets play the Dolphins in south Florida, it’s like a Jets home game. Thank you.
You can go to a Marlin game and move down to the box seats, and no one would know or care!
The fans in south Florida, (except for the Heat, now) could care less.

    I wholeheartedly agree with you.
These “Floriettes” make fun of the Jets which is fine, they deserve it this past season, but when they knock NYC, it’s pure stupidity. Especially when their home could only boast of a good Italian restaurant named Papa John’s.

  29. jetstizzi85 says: Mar 13, 2013 2:24 PM

Signing all these players means NOTHING. I seem to remember Miami spending a lot a couple years back and it did nothing as well.

  30. sb139422 says: Mar 13, 2013 2:55 PM

the jets would be morons if they make any big signings this or next season. The rule is that extra cap space carried over to the next season. that means that if they have their roster at 119 mil this season and next season, by 2015 they will have zero guaranteed contracts and the cap plus 11 million to work with. they are not winning now nor are they winning in the near future with the aging veterans eating up cap space. they need to stop spending and put more in the bank

Dude, you are out of your mind. Yes, we have a bad team, and like ALL bad teams, we therefore have low attendance. Yes we have too many fans supporting the other teams. Just because the Stinkin Jet fans are loud and obnoxious, doesnt reflect that they are the majority in the crowd.

What is also ignored is HALF of the population of Dade County was born in a different COUNTRY, and this is only getting worse. They dont care out football.

    Go FINS…..
