Lorenzo Alexander agrees to deal with Cardinals

Witten is ridden out of bounds by Alexander after a catch during the first half of their NFL football game in Landover, Maryland Reuters

Early reports had Redskins linebacker/special teamer Lorenzo Alexander leaning toward Arizona last night.

It was apparently a strong lean.

According to Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com, Alexander has agreed to join the Cardinals.

Alexander’s a former defensive tackle-turned-linebacker-turned Pro Bowler, one of the more versatile players in the league.

He had talked to the Steelers and 49ers as well.

This man deserves to get paid. Awesome player who made incredible sacrifices to constantly change positions and was amazing in the community. I wish him luck.

This is sad and his versatility cannot be understated. Skins picked him up as a UDFA guard. Then moved him to the other side to play DT in Gregg Williams’ 3-4. Then outside to DE when Haynesworth came. When Haslett switched to the 3-4, they had LoZo stand up as an OLB, then when Rob Jackson did OK in camp, the moved LoZo inside (and just in time because Fletcher’s wheels started to fall off for the first time in his career). His main job was special teams and he was huge for the Skins on punt stop and kick stop tackling (he and Niles Paul). Plus he’s a Cal grad with excellent grades. Really a shame that the Skins let him go. I’m certain he could have kicked and punted in a pinch.

You mean to tell me that they didn’t have any more punt returners they could have cut to keep LoZo around???

I hate this loss. Absolutely hate it.
