Wes Welker signed with the Denver Broncos for only $12 million over two years, in a deal that the Patriots were more than capable of pulling off. So why did New England fail to pull the trigger? CSN New England’s Tom Curran says the Patriots’ ego got in the way.

    Belichick shipped Bledsoe to a division rival. He traded Seymour. He cut Milloy. He let Samuel walk to the Eagles. He traded Vrabel.

    Belichick placed more value in getting Amandola for 5 years with only $10MM guaranteed than he did Welker for two years guaranteed.

    Did he make a mistake with Welker? Maybe, maybe not but he has an excellent record when he moves on from a player.
