Case in point: A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that there is no deal between the Rams and tackle Jake Long. That contradicts a report from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that a deal is done.
Per the source, an offer hasn’t even been made to Long.
This doesn’t mean he won’t be signed. It only means he hasn’t been signed. Indeed, he hasn’t even received an offer.

Omar’s terrible. No surprise he jumped the gun and got it wrong.
It’s ok PFT. You are still head and shoulders the best around and I fully trust you all. PFT! PFT! PFT!
Someone tell Roger Saffold. He’s up on the top of the bridge.
He’s driving back home to Michigan and signing with the Lions.
Is “Report” the name of your dartboard because that’s basically the track record as of late?
I knew it
In a related story, there is a “chance” that water is wet.
It sounds like the two sides have agreed on some basic contract numbers, but obviously if the phsical isn’t done yet the Rams haven’t made an offer yet. So, basically it’s at the exact same stage as it was reported last night. I think the Sun-Sentinel wanted some page hits for the day.
Is the “South Florida Sun-Sentinel” hiring?
Regards,
Howard Eskin
But Wikipedia says that he’s on the Rams!?!?!? WHO CAN I TRUST ANYMORE???

Roger can come back to Indiana and make up for the mistake Indy made not picking him in the first place.
If you were a team and you saw a Dolphins team with plenty of cap room, not throwing money at their starting LT…would that throw up some red flags?
This reminds me of Philbin with Matt Flynn and Greg Jennings. “I LIKE them…BUT…” The Dolphins like Jake Long but they don’t love him anymore, the Rams are bidding against themselves at that 10-12 million range.
Omar still thinks Legedu Naanee is a legitimate NFL wide receiver.
One side or the other, either the Ram’s or Long, is out trying to find a doctor that will give him a pass on the physical. If he was healthy he would have been in the weightroom already. Sounds very fishy to me…hate it…but it is what it is.
I agree Omar is terrible, but Long isnt signed because one or both. Rams have not offered him elite LT money because well hes not elite. Franchise tackles dont block from the sidelines, and he is not healthy enough to pass a physical, cant wait to see him gone from Mia just to get the last of the parcel’s garbage gone. All the Cowboys carryovers are gone and of the two QB’s he passed for this guy one in a NFC championship and one with a ring. Say this to yourself with a straight face “that left tackle is gonna take us to the Super Bowl”

Simple – you don’t know what you have til it’s gone.
Jake Long was a pro bowler his first 4 years (been in 5) and struggled last year due to injury..
We’ll happily take Jake Long in St.Louis – one injured/rough year doesn’t off set 4 pro bowl ones
Simple – they know exactly how much he is worth and do not want to risk a big contract on damaged goods
Jake Long was a pro bowler his couple years and struggled the last two years due to injuries.
We’ll happily take Jake Long in St.Louis we don’t mind risking a ton of money on someone who might not ever play a full season again.
CORRECTED
Like someone said above, Miami likes him but does not love him anymore. Signed a jake long jersey wearing fan.
Rams haven’t made offer to Jake Long, yet

You pay what someone will do for you in the future, not for their past in Free agency. He is a servicable tackle but he has had subpar years 2 of the last three. Clady, J. Thomas etc. are head and shoulders better than Long even though they all have been designated for the Pro Bowl over the past few years.
He has been good, not great.
Jake has not finished the season the last two years, and has been injured the last three.
If I were the Dolphins, I’d love to have him back… just not at elite level money. Hard for me to see how the Rams can afford an elite level contract anyway – after the deal Cook got, so I have to think the Dolphins are still in play for Longs return (unless there are hard feelings). Long has refused to talk to local reporters all off season.
In any case… I understand there are 6 1st round worthy tackles in this years draft… and there are several right tackle players still awaiting contracts in free agency (Johnathon Martin could move to LT for Dolphins). None of those options would cost elite money.
Shuffle off to Buffalo jake, there is a job open. @footballady52. 🏈

*********************************
As a Dolphins fan, we already know what its like without Jake as he cant survive a 16 game schedule. Yes he was a pro bowler, but the last two were on reputation.
He has gotten away from the finesse he had when he started and his technique has suffered. Maybe you didnt watch him last year, but on two occassions, he almost got Tannehill decapitated when he didnt protect the blindside. His run blocking has become inferior. Most third and short runs would go to the right behind John Jerry (who) and Jonathan Martin. He had too many penalties for an ‘elite’ LT.
You can have him…..good luck. You have been warned.
