Uh Newsflash — players don’t sign contracts for just ONE YEAR. How many times do I have to tell you Baltimorons this? That’s why your worn-out “but Joe only counts 6.8 mil next year” excuse makes no sense whatsoever. I don’t care if Flacco only counted 6 dollars and 80 cents against the cap next year, it’s the TOTAL of the next 3-5 years that matters. And considering that this is the RICHEST contract EVER SIGNED, I’d be a little concerned. Especially when that number balloons to 31 mil!

But of course, all those key players like Boldin, Kruger and Ellerbe leaving have nothing to do with Flacco, right? Yeah I mean, they kept Harewood!!!!

Vontae Leach – Not a no name at all, he made the pro bowl with the Texans the year before you got him and was one of the better FBs in the entire NFL & was awesome in College

Jacoby Jones – Don’t really need to say anything, if you think he’s a no name you were in a bunker til the Ravens got to the playoffs

Matt Birk- 5 pro bowls with the Vikings – I’m starting to think you are just insane – This is how all Ravens fans think?

Pollard – Had 2 consecutive seasons with 100 tackles and 4 ints (2009)and 4 forced fumbles (2010)

Bryant McKinnie (you should know how to spell the names of players on your own team big dog) Pro Bowler and great player for the Vikings who was simply released because he showed up overweight to training camp and the Ravens scooped him up.

I agree, watermelon1! I guess just since the Ravens won the Super Bowl everyone can pretend to be an expert. You clearly know nothing about the Ravens, watermelon1. Firstly, we traded for Anquan, we didn’t sign him as a free agent. Secondly, the signings of Pollard, Jacoby Jones, and Corey Graham were NOT big signings, and they were all key contributors.

Too many years I’ve watched the Ravens get killed by commenters and commentators alike during free agency, only to see Ozzie’s moves pan out during the season.

You’re just another PFT commenter who watched ONLY the Ravens’ playoff games and think you know everything about the Ravens.

I comment on the Ravens because I typically miss only 1-3 snaps all season. I keep my mouth shut about teams that I saw play for 2-3 games in the playoffs.

Typical Raven basher will say “Who?!?!… Oh the Ravens are done” The Ravens do this every year, the biggest “splashes” we make are huge yet fly under the radar because they aren’t big name/contract players.

News flash — I’ve mentioned Jones many times, because he’s the guy who really deserved the big money, not Flacco. Without Jones running back all those kicks for TDs, the Ravens might not even make the playoffs. (They sure don’t win the Bowl if not for him). Without Jones coming back for Flacco’s underthrown stink-bombs and turning them into TDs, the Ravens win nothing. So wrong about us not recognizing who REALLY gets it done for Baltimore. In fact, do you not see why we’re all pointing out Flacco’s overpaid mediocrity in the FIRST PLACE? Because guys like Jones carry him and earn him the big money.

We aren’t allowed to question a free agency move without being called an uneducated hater? Your problem is these guys weren’t no names when you signed them. Anyone who is more than an avg football fan knew who Pollard was before the Ravens.
Ed Reed is 34, he is clearly being held onto with the hopes that he can rally the team for the next 3 years just like Ray Lewis was able to do. 1) I wont say “who” when a player could be a hidden gem with upside but this dude had his shot and lost his spot after 5 games. Didnt get any restricted tender and generated no buzz in FA. So, the entire NFL says — who?

2) Everyone says Oz has a plan but unless he plans on getting Revis or turning his 32rd overall pick into multiple first rounders; how much can his plan really help the team? Theres only so many FAs and we all know who they are. They cant get some superstar out of nowhere.

Maybe they’re banking on comp picks next season?

Idiots….ever hear of SB 35? The “lucky pass” only tied the game…the Broncos couldn’t get it done…deal with it.

I would say 5 straight trips to the playoffs, 3 AFC title games, and 2 Super Bowls is pretty successful. But coming from a hater who can’t remember SB35 (I know, it was sooooo long ago!) this is to be expected I suppose.

ACTUALLY, Vontae Leach, Bernard Pollard, and Matt Birk were pretty big signings. They weren’t some scrubs the Ravens turned into gold.

As for Jacoby Jones, he was most recently known as a choke-artist and special-teams only player. He fumbled two kick returns that led to the Ravens advancing in the previous year’s playoffs.

He ended up being a viable receiver once he got to the Ravens.

But as for the rest of your nonsense, please shut up. The Ravens have made big signings in the offseasons. Boldin can be added to those.

It seems like they’re in a fire-sale, and whether you want to admit it or not… they’re looking to be in a world of hurt for this upcoming season. They’ve lost a lot of talent. They pretty much have NO linebackers. BOTH starting safeties could be gone. They lost one of the guys who pretty much bailed Flacco out and answered his “prayer” throws. All they’ve added is… Chris Canty so far.

Perhaps they end up having a ton of cap space to spend NEXT offseason, but right now for this season upcoming… it’s not looking good.

Pollard has health issues. He broke 6 ribs in the SB and wasn’t right all season with nagging injuries.

Really though, he’s due a bundle over the next few years and this was Ozzie’s way of hedging against the cap. He’ll be missed, but they will plug that position fast.

Pollard was at the prime of his career and for cheap, not sure of that move. If it’s an attempt to keep Ed Reed I’m not sure I agree with that move. Pollard is younger and can actually tackle.

Winning generates envy. And Americans have a big envy problem.
