If Chris Johnson really is going to break Eric Dickerson’s rushing record, he may have to do it while giving up some carries to Shonn Greene.

Greene, a free agent running back who has played his entire career with the Jets, will visit the Titans on Wednesday, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

Titans coach Mike Munchak told Mike Florio last month that it can’t just be Johnson carrying the load at running back in Tennessee, and that the Titans will bring someone in to help lessen the load on Johnson. That “someone” may turn out to be Greene, who joined the Jets as a third-round draft pick in 2009 and is coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons.

Greene isn’t expected to return to the Jets, who are expected to target Mike Goodson as his replacement.
