Back to New England……Bill needs an extra draft pick so Mallet is traded for a 5th rounder and Bill reinstalls Cassel as Bradys backup.

as a Chiefs fan i would have been totally fine having Cassel as a backup. He is a Brian Greise type – would come in and do great in a few spot starts (like – REALLY great), but if asked to start upwards of 5 or 6 games, will fall flat on face (in case of Greise – literally).

BUT – he has been run out of town and totally understand needing to get rid of him (esp for 7.5 mil)

Pretty sure the draft picks weren’t the hold up on the Chiefs not finding a trade partner. It was his too large contract that a team would have taken on if they traded for him. He won’t have a problem finding a deal for a couple million to be a backup somewhere.

If you guys are wanting him as a backup you better hope your #1 dont get hurt, You will be picking first in the draft if so, this guy is horrible, terrible pathetic . good guy but god I havent seen a qb as bad as him in my life …. and I’m a Chiefs fan there has been plenty!

Cassel is a serviceable QB if you give him time to throw and some good weapons. Pioli never seemed to invest much in the o-line, which is surprising considering how much value the Pats put on it.

As a Chiefs this clearly comes as a relief, but deep down a real part of me believes Cassel can recapture that 27 TD season. There was a game they played at SEA during that season where he looked like freakin’ Montana. Somewhere it can be found again, but he simpley regressed too much for Reid to roll with him again. And quite frankly, for all the slack he gets, Todd Haley should get credit for getting the most out of Cassel (same with Derrick Johnson, whom he sat behind Corey freakin’ Mays for an entire season! )

I think most QBs would have struggled in KC the last couple years. They didn’t have enough quality players around him or good depth from what little of know of the KC roster.

He’ll be a fine backup somewhere or a decent starter if whatever team he goes to has a good Oline.

Clearly not a real Browns fan above.

I take it as a good sign that there are no serious suggestions here that the Browns sign Cassel.

I know this “in the right system” thing is annoying but .. living in the Boston area when he played for the Pat’s (Brady went down in the seasons first game, Pollard’s hit – the Brady rule), Cassel play ed “REAL” good for the Pat’s, a 11-5 record .. they didn’t make playoffs because of a loss to Miami (Pat’s had better records then 3 other teams who did make playoffs because they won their respective divisions) .. So, in the right offense with the offense scheme designed around the strengths of the QB, Cassel is a very good QB .. hell, he proved it his first year in KC .. they won their division .. hope he lands with his feet on the ground .. I could easily find myself rooting for him and success

Wow classless KC fans. Honestly unless this guy was a locker room problem or he talked trash about the city, players, coaches theres no reason to be talking bad about him. Be grateful that he at least took you guys to the playoffs, something yall wouldnt have done with tyler palko, or Brady quinn.
