I’m not trying to bash on the Steelers. I really am not — but as a Bears fan, I wouldn’t want this guy to sign with anyone.

I mean that stat alone summarizes his tenure w/ us — 37 receptions in two entire seasons as a starter.

There is a reason GM Phil Emery signed Martellus Bennett 20 minutes into free agency.

Be afraid, be very afraid…Even as Greg Olsen’s backup a few years back this guy sucked…Spaeth at least has some blocking skills, and will catch an occasional TD pass.

I think the Stillers thought it was “Kellen Winslow” at TE. Anyway, at least they won’t look to get the “6’7 statue-with-a-heartbeat” Matt Spaeth back from the Midway. Or will they???

Who said anything about him being a stud? With Miller out for a while, and possibly losing Pope, they need someone to play tight end. I find it extremely amusing how every move the Steelers make is wrong, but the bloodletting going on in baltimore makes perfect sense.

I get your frustration, but relax it is the usual raven rants of the fan boy…he represents himself not the good fans of Baltimore which there are many …just not on these threads. We just get those who have been swimming in the shallow end of the gene pool for years. Be happy they live in Baltimore and it is far away.

so the steelers are interested in a guy whose main attribute is he has been healthy the last 5 years? he has hands of stone but he has not missed a game so let’s give him a million bucks? great just do not expect him to catch the ball or block other than that he is a great tight end!! sibning this guy is not the way to improve on a 8-8 record guys!

I doubt he’ll play for the vet minimum which is what the steelers are likely to offer, but it sounds like a good fit. He is a good blocker. It doesn’t take much to replace pope either.
