Colts release Tom Zbikowski

The Colts' Zbikowski tackles Buffalo's Jones during an NFL football game in Indianapolis, Indiana. Reuters

With as many new players as have been coming in, it was inevitable that the Colts shipped some out, too.

They’ve done that today, as the team announced they released safety Tom Zbikowski, via Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star.

He was one of coach Chuck Pagano’s first imports last year, as they brought him in from Baltimore to help spread the message. He started 11 games last season.

But after signing LaRon Landry Wednesday night, Zbikowski was expendable.

Every former Raven either ends up playing below their Ravens level or way below their Ravens level. Yet when they come to Baltimore they go to the next level. Clearly the Ravens have a system and a formula for players with specific talents, teams shouldn’t be overspending on former Ravens. One day they will learn…

Raiders need a safety, seems like the kinda guy Reggie would hire.

I’m sure the Chargers would like to talk to him. They need someone to play along side Weddle.

Raiders should try to sign him, with the release of mike huff we lack talent at safety.

It’s not his fault he was slow and couldn’t cover anyone. The Colts don’t have real good luck at certain positions – strong safety is one of them.
