The Jets should move Revis for whatever they can get for him. If they could even get a journeyman qb & dump that inflated salary at the same time their situation would improve IMO. The cb position just doesn’t have enough of an impact for a team that didn’t score one td last preseason. As a Seahawk fan I’ve suffered thru some dismal offenses & even worse qbs but the jets offense last season was bad even by hawk standards. He has value. Dump the salary & address your real needs.

He’d better be able to play both sides of the field since starting corners are going for $6m a year! $15m is just unrealistic, even if he wasn’t coming off an ACL injury.

WTF? The Jets are smarter than who? Or, better question would be smarter than what? A box of rocks maybe? A 5 yr old? They way overpaid and are stuck with a bottom feeder QB, traded for another QB they don’t know how to use, and structured Mevis to a contract that makes getting rid of him OR keeping more painful than a years worth of daily prostate exams. You call that smart?

I think a low draft pick this year with a number 1 to 4 next year depending on his games/snaps played in 2013. If IR in 2013 then a 7 in 2014 with a #2 in 2015 if he plays at all in 2014. All continginent on him signing an extension within 48 hours of trade. Also; if cut by team for any reason other than for official misconduct of League Policy, it is treated as if he played to the threshold.

The extension is a separate issue but given the current market would be hard for Revis to pass up if anywhere near 12 Million and incentive based. There is no way to say if he will be back this year but given that it looks promising, I would bet on it and make the deal.

The only reason Revis got a big contract was because Al Davis over paid Asomugha. Now that Al Davis is gone … No one else is dumb enough to pay those rediculous contracts.

You’re right…. the jests ARE dumb. All you need do is look at their history. Just make sure you’re doing so on an empty stomach and while sitting down.

What I don’t get is when Pats traded Seymour for what they got for him they were praised as a smart business team. Oh my they were loved by that “bold” move and couldn’t hear enough about it. The ACL injury is a NONE FACTOR to other teams. Rehab has come way too far. They are just using that to pay less to the Jets for him so they dont have to give up his true trade value. v

Ummm…..what are you talking about, who are you as a Jets fan to criticize ANYONE about being smart with cap money. Didn’t your Jets just have to dump half their team in order to get under the cap, and the Bucs still have way more room than the Jets

jets4gold- What? Dominik is EXTREMELY smart with the cap. He typically structures contracts to take the highest cap hit up front so it’s done with. Bucs haven’t had any cap issues since the Gruden/Allen regime left town.

Florio – Where is this Giants speculation coming from? This is the 3rd or 4th time you’ve used it?

There are so many reasons that the giants picking up revis would not happen.

1.) They don’t have the money

2.) They almost NEVER pick up big names in FA

3.) They rarely, if ever pick players with a history of selfishness or troublemakers (Plaxico aside)

4.) They don’t have the money.

Come on, Mike, no one who knows the Giants buys this.

Teams are now painfully aware: A flat salary cap doesn’t allow for QB $ being paid to other positions, and that Adrian Petersen was the exception, not the rule, of returning to pre ACL tear level the following season. All others don’t get back to 100% til 2nd season, and if there’s HGH testing going fwd that will further prlong the recovery period.

at no point has Revis ever been worth that number.

also, the vikes signing revis is a complete waste. we still play primarily a cover two… no DB is worth 12million a year in such a scheme.

Revis wont get 15 a year after this FA market. He needs to accept he will only get at max 12 a year only from a bad team with cap space
