Lol. The ONLY reason the Ravens have sustained playoff status throughout the last ten to fifteen years is because they were smart enough to draft ray lewis and keep a hold of him. He makes everyone better exponentially. See : 1999 Ravens roster

Here's something to think if you doubt the Oz. Gronk and Pitta were drafted the same year. Gronk in the second round, Pitta in the 4th. The tender for Pitta is a second round plus his salary. This means he's valued A LOT higher than drafted...into Gronk territory.

Now I still think Gronk is a beast with no comparison but if another team thinks Pitta is worth the asking price they are essentially saying he's worth what people thought Gronk was worth in the 2010 draft. And that is two rounds higher than Oz got him.

Keep Pitta in B-more!

Like I said, keep throwing rocks. A third place finish in our division? Really, you can predict that in March??? Before free agency ends, before the draft? Organizationally speaking, the AFC North is still a two horse race. Cincinnati is a poor organization. Sure, the spike up once in a while, but please wake me up when Marvin Lewis actually wins a playoff game. And Cleveland, I guess it's ok to keep hoping. But giving $41 mil to a one trick pony with 6 career starts, doesn't exactly give me confidence that the Brownies are heading in the right direction.

We lose players every year - it's a "condition" of drafting well:). And with our front office, we don't "rebuild", we "reload". That is why our playoff windows don't close.

I can't wait to see who Ozzie brings in with 12 picks is year. Last year he brought us Upshaw, Osemele, and Pierce. And he got a gem in Justin Tucker as an UDFA! We also get Webby back at corner, and a healthy Suggs.

The Ravens pretty much already shot themselves in the foot and have given up on the upcoming season so there isn't as much if a need for teams to try and weaken them further and lose their own draft picks.

If the ravens had not let go half their talent, I would say teams would already be giving up their second and trying to land pitta. But just like Rice's early years... Pitta is only getting the stats because that's the first person flacco looks to on half his drop-backs.

enoughofthatalready says:

Pitta isn’t going to stay in Baltimore for the reason that he is a stud and the Ravens know it. What a dumb comment. He is going to stay because nobody is going to give up a second round draft pick on top of the $ that he well deserves. The Ravens may not have the $ to keep him if an offer comes in, unless they lose Reed and McKinnie first.

1st - the reason for saying that, was because the Ravens aren't going to let him walk; they would match whatever offer he gets.

2nd - Reed and McKinnie are FA's so I'm not really sure what money are you are talking about?

3rd - I said any smart football fans, which obviously by your post shows you are not one.

It’s funny how the other teams’ fans laugh at us every March, yet we’ve had the last laugh more often than not. Guess we should be flattered by the attention. 5 straight playoff appearances, 3 AFC championship games in those 5 years, 1 Super Bowl ring. Keep laughing, keep throwing rocks. #GoRavens.

--------------------------------------------------
While this may be true, I'm going to go out on a limb and say they will finish 3rd in the division behind Cincy and Pitt. Their reign is over for a while. Not going to win a Super Bowl with only a handful of good players.

Here's the deal folks- if somebody wanted to pounce on Pitta? They would've done it already. The Ravens are still sitting on Q's $7.5M cap hit right now, so they wouldn't have the ability to match (most likely) until Q comes back from Africa, takes his physical and officially signs. Despite not having that money yet, the Ravens are still sitting on a solid$10-12M in cap room so it's not like they are pinched. Furthermore, word in Baltimore is that they're sitting on Leach- if an opportunity comes up to sign a player that requires opening up more space? They'll cut him. If not? They'll keep him. That's an extra $4.3M if they need it. So no, nobody is going to swoop in, offer Pitta a 3-4 year contract at $10M per year that the Ravens cant match, along with tossing out a second round pick in a draft that has plenty of TE depth.

And Squealer fans- I don't know why you're so obsessed with the Ravens "crumbling." You know what the major difference is between our teams? We're losing/cutting key players because we want to get younger and cheaper, while not overpaying (Kruger,Ellerbe and Cary all got overpaid). Pitt is cutting/losing players because they can't afford anybody. Tell me folks, how much cap room does Pitt have? Yea... thought so.

8drinkminimum,
While not likely, the Dolphins could sign Pitta and have a TE combo just like NE. The only thing is Pitta & Keller wouldn't be as good as the NE combo.

Pitta isn't going to stay in Baltimore for the reason that he is a stud and the Ravens know it. What a dumb comment. He is going to stay because nobody is going to give up a second round draft pick on top of the $ that he well deserves. The Ravens may not have the $ to keep him if an offer comes in, unless they lose Reed and McKinnie first.

I like the references of how the last 5 years went. Remember it took the Ravens / Flacco / Harbaugh 5 years to finally get to the Super Bowl and win it.

Also remember that Roethlisberger won his 1st Super Bowl in his second season and won his 2nd Super Bowl in his 5th season plus he had a 13-0 regular season record in his rookie season while getting to the AFC Championship game. Tomlin won the Super Bowl in his second season and got to his second Super Bowl in his fourth season.

i will play along steeley. i dont think losing pitta is part of any plan and i would be very upset if he leaves. however none of this has to do with joe's 6.8 mil 2013 cap hit. we knew kruger was gone. miami paid a lot for ellerbe. boldin was valued at 4 mil..not 6. pollard is a bit of a mystery. i have faith in ozzie and the plan. 10 to 12 draft picks and lots of vets looking to be signed below value. but pitta...that would hurt

Will we be able to name players on the ravens roster beside joe, rice and smith? I keep hearing that Joel's cap this year is only 6 million but yet they're losing players left and right. They're probably pissed because he got more credit and rewarded for the SB win than they did.

The Ravens can always cut their FB who makes $4.5 million -- which I think is twice as much as any other FB in the league -- and use that money to match a front-loaded offer for Pitta. I'm surprised they haven't done that already.

No way Pitta is going anywhere… this guy is a stud and the Ravens know it. Besides the Boldin trade, any smart football fan will notice they are only cutting bait with the Defense.

No way huh? Isn't that what y'all said about Ellerbe? c'mon say it with me...... REBUILD
