Donte’ Stallworth injured in hot-air balloon accident

Donte' Stallworth AP

Free agent receiver Donte Stallworth is reportedly hospitalized in stable condition after he was in a hot-air balloon accident on Saturday morning in Miami.

Stallworth was burned when the hot-air balloon he was riding in with his girlfriend hit power lines, Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com reports. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Stallworth’s injuries are not serious enough to threaten his career.

South Florida police told News 15 in Miami that two people were hospitalized after their hot-air balloon crashed into power lines. That report did not identify the two injured people.

The incident reportedly happened at 10 a.m. on Saturday. A third passenger in the hot-air balloon was not injured.

Stallworth played for the Patriots last season and is currently not signed, although there have been reports that New England is bringing him back.

Top 3 things not to do when a free agent:
    1. Play pick-up basketball
    2. Use a fax machine
    3. Take hot air balloon rides

I believe he has also been injured during warmups, while running untouched, and possibly while brushing his teeth. My 7 year old daughter is tougher than this china doll.

And not 1 of u trolls has ever driven under the influence? What happened was horrible and he took responsibility for his actions. And followed the sentence given by the judge. Hopefully he’ll be ok from this accident.

So … were the power lines running in front of him in out of a crossing zone.
This guy should still be in jail for vehicular manslaughter for running someone over while drunk.
    I mean really?

—You mean appropriate comments. The guy killed a person driving drunk off the field, and has never been good on the field.

Stop being a sheep. If you or I drunk drove and killed someone we would still be behind bars. 7 days in jail with house arrest sentencing for killing someone?! Get a brain

  32. mountaingirl39 says: Mar 16, 2013 3:15 PM

Sorry not a sheep, just realistic. He was drunk, so was the person he hit. He stayed with the man, accepted responsibility for his actions. The judge sentenced him, never drive again, pay a huge fine, speak out about drunk driving. The family of the victim didn’t fight the sentence. Personally I think the sentence should have been more, but the judge gave him a chance.

  33. TheWizard says: Mar 16, 2013 3:29 PM

Some of you don’t have a very good understanding of what happened with his auto accident.

The details are on the net, so it’s laziness or inability to comprehend that plagues you.

I hope he’s ok, I was looking forward to seeing him suit up for the Pats again. I think he can contribute.

Ok, he hit a 59 year old that was crossing the street just getting off work from the graveyard shift. Don’t think he was drunk, try again.

  39. dynaco says: Mar 16, 2013 3:49 PM

  41. razorbyrd says: Mar 16, 2013 3:56 PM

    @mountaingirl:

the man he hit wasn’t drunk, he was on his way home from work…

and the family decided to “put it behind them”goes because they got paid off… they probably didn’t attend the trial because they were on vacation…

@zeke517: There is no such thing as karma? Are you sure?

You are in for a rude awakening. Somewhere, sometime, you will be scratching your head wondering why and the answer is right in front of you.

Karma is real. Don’t eff with it because it wins every time. One way or the other, eventually you get clipped. For every action there is a reaction, you know this.

I’m do not believe in any God, but karma is the real deal.

FYI, I flip the bill for cabs when I go out drinking and I’m pretty sure I didn’t make a mill this past year.

Stallworth isn’t the last Patriot that will be getting burnt in Miami this year. Talib is going to get torched by Wallace.

If by “torched” you mean he’s gonna run by Talib and not catch the ball, I agree. Enjoy Wallace now because you won’t be able to when the season comes and you see what you got for your money!

  53. stevelibrandi says: Mar 16, 2013 5:00 PM

they have not invented a hot air balloon capable of lifting Andre Smith. Would like to see tits jump from 140,000 feet like that one guy did last year. His moobs could be used to cushion his landing like that mars Rover.
