Giants sign Dan Connor

Dallas Cowboys' Connor tries to recover the fumble by New York Giants' Bradshaw as New York Giants blocks linebacker Carter and center Baas is near in the first half of their NFL football game in Arlington Reuters

Free agent linebacker Dan Connor is heading to New York.

Connor has signed a one-year deal with the Giants, a league source tells PFT.

A 2008 third-round draft pick of the Panthers, Connor played four seasons in Carolina before signing with the Cowboys last season. In Dallas last season Connor played in 14 games, starting eight, but he was cut by the Cowboys just before the start of free agency in a salary cap move.

With the Giants, Connor will compete with Mark Herzlich for the starting middle linebacker spot.

I like it. Solid against the run, which is what the Giants need badly.

after signing he was heard saying I’ll learn to hate the Giants fans. that shouldn’t be a tough thing to do

Is Rosie, Becky, Darleen, D.J, and Aunt Jackie moving to New York with him?

Not exactly doing backflips but this is a good move (finally). He will be much better in our 4-3 scheme. Kiwi, Connor, Rivers is a solid unit if they can all stay on the field.

iirc correctly from Roseanne, dan connor is a bears fan

Connor must love getting run over by RG3, Alfred Morris and the rest of the Redskins. Only a masochist would want to lose to the best team in the NFL twice per year. At least he can say he got stomped by the world champion Redskins

We needed able bodies with experience for our LB core. With Connor and Rivers signed it should help a bit.

they’d have been better off signing Sarah Connor.

Good job Pittsburgh… you let another one get away!! Now focus on Victor Bailey…. we need a outside rusher!

RG3 was a one hit wonder who couldn’t even finish his first season healthy. Without his running ability Alfred Morris and the Redskin O-line are Mediocre at best.
One an done are the best Skin’s fans will see till the next time they have another #1 draft pick.

That will be 3 years from now.

So flavorsave, after he signed he said he hates his new team?

Also logical, the redskins are world champs? Last I heard their QB was being carted around with a couple torn ligaments in his knee and he may or may not be able to play next year. If the redskins organization is the same as last yr they’ll have him out there in a wheelchair. Ill have to tell Mara to make a rule against that.

As far as signing Dan Connor, I trust Mara and the rest of the NYG front office. They do have those 2 recent SB championships.

From this Buffalo bills fan: There are reasons why the Giants are what they are: very successful, and moves like this just reinforce that.

After having been lead by Ryan, he deserves a “damaged goods” exemption.

logicalvoice you are a complete idiot and your team has been world champion doormats for years.

Even Boys fans, say Connor did a good job , filling in for LB Lee, while hurt, even if he rotates, I think at 27 he’s a good , cheap one year signing.

Dude, you REALLY need to get some semblance of a life. Do you have NOTHING better to do than post this long-winded Redskins drivel on every story about the NFC East?

    Reese’s Piece’s

  31. paulsmith107 says: Mar 16, 2013 5:12 PM

Dan Connor is slow and nothing more than a backup. Reese is a trash gm who has systematically turned the giants into average trash. Giants fans love to brag about how elite Reese is as a gm or Eli as a qb and both are average at best. Dan Connor lol he is your answer have fun catching shady McCoy or him stopping anyone in the read option. Have fun covering tight ends. Bargain basement trash is what this man has new filling your team lol. Remind me how great you are with three outta 4 years with no playoffs and losing out trash teams like Dallas and Washington yeah big blue you suck

    @ kev86

“Happy St. Patrick’s Day Danny boy and welcome to an NFC East team that wins Super Bowls.”

And yet the Giants are STILL behind the Cowboys in the # of NFL titles. BTW, how did that “defending” SB champ title work out for you, btw? Right – your boys choked away the chance to make it to the playoffs.

Connor is a mediocre pro with declining skills – he is pretty weak when defending the pass. He was cut for a reason, and was also signed for only one year for a reason. He will be a backup on the team with Herzlich easily beating him out to start. He will be rotated in on running plays, and that will make up the bulk of his playing time in NY.

  33. dallascowboysdishingthereal says: Mar 16, 2013 10:01 PM

Connor couldn’t cover Rob Ryan on a pass route. The Panthers cut him and now the Cowboys cut him but the Giants are feeling good about this signing. Really?

  34. weaponx73 says: Mar 17, 2013 7:54 AM

The Dallas fans are right he got cut for a reason, they didnt have the cap room to keep him. But dont let reality ruine your rant against the Giants. I mean since you can’t get even on the playing field you mind as well dominate the message board. Oh how’d that win in your in game go two years ago? Oh right G-men embarrased you and went on an epic playoff run. But look at the brightside atleast your star WR wasnt crying like a little girl after that loss.
