Getty ImagesRemember how we said Giants executive Steve Tisch believes someone will try to sign receiver Victor Cruz away in restricted free agency?
Well, the Colts don’t appear to be an immediate suitor for Cruz, owner Jim Irsay said Sunday evening, per multiple reports from Phoenix, where the NFL is holding its annual meeting.
Irsay, of course, has indicated that the Colts are looking at adding to their wide receiver corps. ”We’d like to get another receiver. Got one targeted,” Irsay said Sunday, according to Tom Rock of Newsday.
But Cruz isn’t the receiver the Colts have their eye on, Irsay indicated.
“(It’s) not Cruz, no,” Irsay said, according to Jim Corbett of USA Today. Other NFL writers wrote similarly on Twitter.
So there we have it.
Cruz is No. 3 on PFT’s Free Agent Hot 100. But he’s not the one receiver who has the Colts’ attention right now, apparently.

Maclin. Book it.
I would rather have the Colts 3rd round pick than the Zpata. Vome on Colts, give Sanders the offer!
Cribbs
Again, it’s devone Bess, Slot receiver Miami Dolphins
Giants don’t resign Cruz their done..
Hrd to believe it would be Sanders, the Colts are worse off for picks than the Pats. I’m guessing Heyward-Bey
It’s Randy “I’m the Greatest, I think” Moss…
I dont dislike the guy, but Irsay is going to look like a complete fool if they end up not getting this big receiver he’s been going on and on about via Twitter lately.
Why not keep your mouth shut until the deal actually gets done? Great that you like to tweet out to fans and what not but how bad are you going to look when you come up with nada? Dont get your fans hope up over something that obviously isnt even close to being done yet.
Irsay is making this a big story because of his tweets, but the WR they sign is going to end up being some bum like Laurent Robinson.
Didn’t figure for it to be them. I figure it to be a team in the Top 10 of the draft with cap space to offer Cruz $10M on average over 5-6 years, which is only a few bucks more than the Giants reportedly offered.
Im guessing Jeremy Maclin. He is in the final year of his rookie deal, and has ties to Colts GM Ryan Grigson.
Remember last year when Jim Irsay got the media/fans worked up about a possible trade for a superstar corner and got Vontae Davis?
I’m gonna guess he’s trying to trade for Davone Bess.
Somewhere in the article should be a guess about what receiver they might be thinking about.
Jeremy Maclin is the target… he doesn’t overlap TY Hilton in the slot, he will be due a new contract after this coming season, Eagles have a new coach, and they are not settled at QB, making it wise to not tie too much money at the receiver spot.
Chad Johnson!
Well that’s good because Cruz needs more than a little Luck after dropping 12 passes last year. That’s a mild salsa.

I’ve heard rumors of Larry Fitz (not buying into this rumor though) but I’m guessing who ever he is going after must have a big name or he wouldn’t hype it up this much last time he had this much hype he landed a stud with CB Davis so i wouldn’t say he’s blowing hot air like some owners or GMs do
Maybe I am wrong but didn’t this noise start once NE released Lloyd.
The Indianapolis Star speculated earlier today that the Seahawks Doug Baldwin could be a potential target:
“Colt Fans, hint—–it’s a Wide Receiver!!,’’ Irsay wrote.
Yep, narrowed it down.
Of course, all that did was further stoke the speculation.
The New York Giants’ Victor Cruz? Arizona’s Larry Fitzgerald? Miami’s Davone Bess? Seattle’s Doug Baldwin?
Let’s continue to speculate. Baldwin lacks the pizzazz of Fitzgerald and Cruz, even Bess. But there are dots to connect. The Seahawks signed him as an undrafted rookie in 2011. That’s after he played at Stanford with Andrew Luck and for Pep Hamilton.
Need I remind you they happen to be the Colts’ quarterback and offensive coordinator?
Sydney Rice or Larry Fitzgerald would be my guess
Irsay: Look at me!!!!!!!!
Titus Young! Awesome!
Jim Irsay = Drama Queen
Leave Danario Alexander alone please Mr Irsay
Trading for Larry Fitzgerald.
Sounds like its Cruz to me.
You know the old saying: When they say it’s not about the money, it’s about the money. This is a smokescreen
OK, could we now PLEASE stop reporting every time Irsay fells compelled to tweet us with meaningless teases?
Sometimes it’s tough being such a big colts fan. Cruz would of been awesome. Hoping hard it’s fitz, but seriously doubt it.
In other words… Victor Cruz told him to Whack Off. Irsay won’t be buying this guy with his false promises.
Chad Johnson. Probably not Terrell Owens.
Danario Alexander.
Brandon Lloyd?
Daruis Heyward-Bey
Either of those 2 learning under the teaching of Reggie Wayne. I am sensing some serious wood sprouting up in Nap Town right about now.
Trade maybe?
My guess was Cruz in previous post. I was wrong.
It has to be Maclin, Eagles went out and added a receiver out of no where right around the time this started.
Jeremy Maclin makes a lot of sense.
Victor Cruz can go there the giant prefer Nick anyway
Jet Fan Life
cruz like nearly all receivers is as good as the qb delivering the ball. he had eli, one of the top qb’s in the league, throwing to him. chances are eli made him look better than he really is.
Its the kid in Seattle where sport, commercial fishing are big, thus the Irsay reference to getting a big one in the boat.
He also played with/for Luck/Hamillton at Standford.
YAWN.
I realize as owner he has the right to say whatever what he wants, but if you were a GM, wouldn’t this drive you crazy if you wanted any negotiating leverage at all?
Sidney Rice not a FA…..but
He said receiver not wide receiver. It could be another TE. Dennis Pitta, maybe? Reports are that he has been receiving interest in RFA.
LoL this guy can’t be quite ……
Cruz would have been a good addition for Luck to grow with.
Emmanuel Sanders?
It’s Alexander or Cribbs
It has to be Danario Alexander or Emmanuel Sanders…
It’s marvin harrison lol
What the heck, I’m gonna throw this one out there: Miles Austin.
Probably not, more than likely not, but the Cowboys need cap space, the Colts could use him, Dez has proven he is better, and more than anything, Jerry has just been way too quiet. It’s like the calm before a storm. A terrible, terrible storm.
Maclin does make more sense though.
Sounding more like Sanders or Bess. But it’s anyone’s guess right now. I just hope whoever it is, they come in and can become an impact player right away and help us win.
Fans of the Colts should hope it’s Doug Baldwin. I hope it’s not though (as a Seahawk fan). He is better than any of the people mention above other than Larry Fitzgerald and Sidney Rice. Sidney Rice is not available. No way the Seahawks trade him. Doug Baldwin maybe.
It’s not Victor Cruz, it’s Penelope Cruz.
How many more years does Reggie Wayne have left, it’s got to be someone that can take his spot. My guess is it’s a trade for Fitzgerald. Colts 1st this year and next, maybe a player. What good is Fitzgerald in AZ without a QB, better to restock draft picks and rebuild using the one blue chip player you have.
As an owner, he needs to keep this stuff within the team.
It will probably be Maclin, Jackson, or Avant for Bethea and picks
I hate to think about it because I want to see him finish where he started, but, it could be Steve Smith. As a Carolina fan, I hate the thought, but it frees cap space, and puts him somewhere he can win now, and maybe get a ring.
The big boys play on the outside
No not steve smith, dude doesnt have much time left, plus hes a hot head
Why would the colts want cruz? I’m pretty sure they want to win.
Probably someone like Darrius Heyward-Bey
Go home Jim Irsay, you’re drunk. Just like your father…
Look for the recently released Patriots WR to sign here….? Hmmm… Could play the slot as good as Cruz and at a much much discounted rate than Cruz
Im just taking a guess here and saying its, “Denario Alexander”.
