Richie Incognito really doesn’t want Jake Long to leave Dolphins

Social media campaigns have led to Betty White hosting Saturday Night Live and brought help to other causes benefitting bigger groups of people, which may be why Dolphins guard Richie Incognito has started one to keep tackle Jake Long in Miami.

Incognito started the effort on Twitter Friday with meesages including the hashtag “bringjakehome” and has spent the last couple of days retweeting and replying to others who have picked up on his efforts. He’s also kept up his own work, expanding his bag tricks to include posting photos of him and Long dressed as Batman and Superman on Halloween and a picture of the two linemen with the message “I miss us.” And then there’s this gem, which comes via a scene in Jerry Maguire having nothing to do with football.

Long may come to a decision too, which is a shame because we’re curious to know which song would be playing on the boom box when Incognito holds it over his head outside Long’s house.

The best part of this is that Long might re-sign and then Incognito, who has a $5.4 million cap number with $1 million dead money, could be released.

As a Steeler fan, I can tell you in about a year from now, they’ll be wishing they saved some of that Wallace money and gave it to Long.

Wide receivers come and go – even Super Bowl MVP receivers like Santonio Holmes and Hines Ward – but the Steelers’ biggest loss of the decade was letting Alan Faneca go over a petty money squabble. Almost overnight, the Steelers went from having 4 straight decades of dominant offensive line play to suddenly having the worst o-line in football.

Well the Rams who Long is considering signing with do not have any WR’s. So protecting the QB will not be a great need.

Jake Long will sign with the Miami Dolphins.

    Long isn’t that good.
The Chiefs or Seahawks could find a scrub working in WalMart and with their superior coaching, turn him into a Pro Bowl OT better than Long.

What player would wanna see any great player leave?

Jake long is just not worth the money and incognito is dangerously close to making to much, money too. Swing martin over to the left and get a right tackle somewhere el else. You probably will have to do something with jerry too since he usually shows up to camp overweight. I like samuda to play guard this year.

We don’t need Ritchie to go he’s fine, if Jake goes it’s because he’s been so injured during the last 2 years. He’s no good sitting on the side lines, that doesn’t work.

WR is the sexy position because of the highlights they create. Guys like Jake & Ritchie are the foundation of teams. And, a little harder to come by than you think.

As a Raider fan, I wonder if the squealers would have been as successful with a great o-line. Ben makes most of his big plays when he’s running for his life. DCs dread when he’s flushed out of the pocket.

Say what you want about Roethlisbird, but he’s paid for Squealer success with his body. DLs & blitzes often struggle to bring him down even when they get to him after his protection breaks down.

Sign Jake, draft Chance, cut Richie.

Seriously, having seen every down that Long played this year he just isn’t worth big bucks right now. Injuries have taken their toll.

The best thing the Fins could do is trade Bess and draft Tavon Austin…..now that would be a tough to defend offense that would keep BB up at night.

That said, I think the Fins draft one of Chance Warmack, Jon Cooper and reach for Xavier Rhodes.

Richie has played harder and better along side of Jake than when he was with the Rams. I hope Long does come back but I also want a Healthy (pro bowl) long.

jake long is one of the few things parcells got right.i have loved watching him play but the injuries have taken thier toll i do think there is still some gas left in his tank .and i hope he can return to his pro bowl form but at this point in time the risk is not worth the investment i hope jake will give the fins a home town discount and return to the team. maybe some sort of incentive in his contract for performance could sweetin the deal in any event i wish big jake nothing but the best

But what does Jackie Long think? She must be going through tweeting withdrawal. She averages 10 tweets a day and suddenly…..silence.

Keep Jake in Miami, he has such a hot wife…..

  18. mackie66 says: Mar 17, 2013 4:26 PM

Bring the big guy home to south beach. Richie is to much, ain’t he? Richie didn’t become one of the dirtiest players in the NFL for nothing.

That’s actually pretty funny. Especially coming from a lunatic like Richie Incognito.

Unfortunately injuries have turned Jake Long into another fat guy.
