Football players get paid millions because football is a violent and dangerous sport… Jahvid knows the risks.. All players know the risk.. It’s like hazard pay… If the man chooses to take the “hazard pay” he also takes the risk of death/paralized /concussions…. Let the man play he knows the risks!!

JoJo has NoNo idea of what Best brought to that offense. The reason they drafted him was to throw him swing passes and let him use his speed in open space. Any rushing yards were icing on the cake.

I am completely baffled by the idea that, with all of the money at stake, nobody on earth can come up with a better helmet/mouth guard design to alleviate these concussion issues. This doesn’t seem like the most difficult problem that mankind has ever faced but some people sure do act like it.

Can somebody explain why this guy’s concussions have kept him out so long, while other players, like Aaron Rodgers or Jay Cutler, get a concussion, take a week off, and then are back?

What is the medical explanation for why Best’s concussion is so much worse?

Jahvid is a class act all the way. He has enormous talent and is one of the fastest players in the league. It’s a real shame injuries and concussions have ruined his career. Many people thought he should have retired after that horrible concussion in college and walked away without further damage. Best of luck to Best in whatever he chooses.

That’s incredibly unfair. He’s a receiving back. He posted over 100 from scrimmage in 4 out of 6 games in 2011. He also had a 200+ game in 2010 but didn’t have over 100 ‘rushing’.

I mean Darren Sproles hasn’t had a 100 yard rushing game since 2007…

Wait a minute, it’s courageous to not retire and instead sit on the sideline and get paid his full salary? I wish I had a job where I got paid my salary while off sick for a couple years AND got an award for it. I guess our standards for courage America have been lowered.

Seriously, though, if enough legit doctors clear the guy, I see no problem with him coming back. That’s a pretty big IF though. If we trust the doctors when they say he SHOULDN’T play, then we also must trust them if they ever say he’s OK to play.

At this point I’m kind of doubting we’ll ever see doctors say he’s OK enough to play, though. That’s a real tough break for a guy that seems like a great guy and a great football player.

Faith is believing in something that you cannot see. Never give up, Jahvid. Many people live in the here and now and quit on things when times get tough – but it doesn’t mean that it is the right thing to do in the moment. Follow your heart until YOUR heart tells you otherwise. It is the only way that you will have peace later in life and eliminate the “what ifs.”

Hard working guy and great athlete. But if you can’t get back on the field in almost 2 years because of concussions, it’s time to hang it up.

this is where mr. Goodell should be chiming in. Sorry Mr. Best. we’ll find a you a job in the NFL, but it wont be carrying the ball. Your future is more important than running the ball.
