Early on Monday, there were reports that cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha’s visit with the Saints didn’t include meetings with either General Manager Mickey Loomis or coach Sean Payton because they’d already left for the owners meetings in Phoenix.
As it turns out, Loomis and Payton were able to multitask on Sunday. Loomis and Payton met with Asomugha before heading to the airport and Loomis told Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune that they “hit it off” with the former Eagles corner.
“We’re always looking for good players to improve our team and we think Nnamdi would be a great fit for our defense and our team,” Loomis said.
Loomis didn’t elaborate as to any offer the team made to Asomugha, but did say that the team is waiting on the cornerback’s decision about where he wants to play. The 49ers are also in play for Asomugha, who is either trying to line up other interest or trying to decide between the two NFC teams.
