You both have valid points, but are forgetting one major factor. The Dolphins are in even better shape next year for Cap. The Cap goes up and the biggest element is that today’s Rookie Contracts are a fraction of the cost 2 years ago! You build with the draft and fill in with FA. If you do not get the production out of these signed players yo simply cut them. I guarantee you that Dansby had no idea it was coming, but he saved us money and we upgraded. That is how it is done. Hartline will never see the end of his contract. Look at the FA list. Full of decent players that simply became expendable becuase their price outweighed their need. The Fins will have Soliai, Starks and Keller for next year. That is why they gave a balloon to Wallace. No arguments here on Wallace… is he worth 27M guaranteed.. maybe not but thatr is the price you pay for the best free agent. Timing is everything! See Flacco for further details. No doubt Wallace helps our Team, but he will be gone in 2015 if he does not pan out and we lost some money, but certaily are not broke. We still have money for 2 more major signings and the Dansby/Barnett money about $11M is used to sign Drafts. Miami is in great shape financially and to field an improved product. Couldn’t agree with you more. If I were Stephen Ross, I would not have allowed Ireland to backload all our new contracts in the hopes of putting together a good enough record to not be fired after this year. I’ve seen teams backload contracts to the 4th and/or 5th, 6th year on a deal but not on the 2nd! $710,000 base salary for Wallace in 2013 on a 60M contract?! It’s not even like we need to do it, we went into FA with nearly $50M of space! The whole things disgusts me because 12 months from now, things won’t be pretty unless we’ve won it all and what are the chances of that? Again, if I was Ross, I would have told Ireland that every single contract he negotiates must spread salary out evenly across all years, or at least not such a huge disparity. With his move on Year 1 of the Wallace contract, Ireland couldn’t possibly be more blatant in what he is trying to do. Slaps in the faces of all Dolfans as though we’ll be so caught up with getting the prized FA WR that we won’t notice his snake-like maneuvers. It’s one thing to backload but $700K in year one on a contract that should avg $12M per is ludicrous.

No, first, there is NO magic in Fitz and you’ve seen that by now. Secondly, the Dolphins made this plans last year and have worked it all out. It is by design that they had the cap money and high draft picks.

They have improved their team whie the jills remain an afterthought. Some things just dont change.

Miami’s DE is not seeking and answer and is already top notch. They could simply use an upgrade in pass rushing at the DE slot opposite Wake.

Miami has 9 (soon to be 10 with the compensation) picks in the draft. Expect three to be DBs to rebuild the secondary in a far more cost effective manner than FA.
