If you put a drill bit through your hand while working a drill press, you would be compensated for medical expenses and lost time, and perhaps future earnings.

I’m not talking about salary here, just the benefits received by any legally employed worker in the U.S.
If players are eligible for this, (worker’s comp or some derivation ) it could be perceived that the NFLPA is posturing themselves for the “big one” e.g. the concussion lawsuit that surely must be on everyone’s mind.

Also, future earnings could be nebulous given the capricious nature of NFL careers.

Seriously, absolutely everything is a smokescreen to keep hGH testing from taking place.

And that’s because 100% of offensive linemen use it, as do probably 40-50% of defensive linemen and linebackers, plus assorted others.

Since the only response from the NFLPA came in the form of petty posturing, I’m inclined to believe that the results of the survey were nothing more than overstated and exaggerated hearsay.

DeMaurice Smith is a fool for allowing business to be conducted this way. Whose side is he on?

The NFL may seem indestructible right now but maybe labor leaders should take a look at history to see how unions being constantly contentious has irreversibly damaged other industries…after that they can maybe have an adult screen statements before releasing them.

They lose every major battle they get in with NFL. Notice how only one year removed from the new CBA negotiations the salary cap barely goes up, in fact it only goes up cause they make a shady deal to punish Skins and Boys. Notice how all the UFA signings are smaller deals than in years past. Notice how all the RFAs are still on their original teams and none are being signed a year early. Notice how multiple teams are restructuring players to conveniently lower franchise #s just before franchise tags are applied at lower rates. Notice how NFL “allows” a 3 day legal tampering period at the beginning of FA. It’s supposed to help FA find the best deal, but all it really does is slow down the fever pitch of FA allowing teams to find out what the market value truly is and then the ability to resign them before any other team can…keeping salaries down. It all adds up to the NFLPA being outmatched and outwitted at every level.

The only thing they can do is make things up to try to paint the NFL in a poor light.

Wait until it comes out that Maurice Smith made it up that he’s licensed to practice law.

Seriously??? This is the equivalent of a 3 year old shouting, “I know you are but what am I?” What a disgrace. The owners definitely have their moments of infamy (and idiocy) but nothing tops these union people for immaturity.
