There’s a new general manager and coach in Jacksonville, but it looks like the same old center will be snapping the ball.

Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union reports that Brad Meester and the Jaguars have agreed to terms on a one-year deal. That will make 14 straight years in a Jaguars uniform for Meester, who was drafted in the second round of the 2000 draft.

Meester’s been quite durable for the Jaguars over the years. He’s missed just 15 games during his career and none in the last four years. His play slipped in 2012, perhaps explaining why he was talking about retirement if the Jags moved in a different direction.

That didn’t happen, although it would probably behoove the Jaguars to find a younger player to groom as Meester’s replacement in the draft. Meester’s leadership and experience with the organization will be hard to replace, but he isn’t going to play forever.
