APThe Cowboys wanted to play in this year’s Hall of Fame game and their wish has been granted.
And they’ll be playing against another team with a tie to 2013 inductee Bill Parcells when they take on the Dolphins on August 4 in Canton, Ohio. The Dolphins made the announcement on Tuesday morning, a couple of hours before tickets go on sale for the game. Should you not get the chance to go watch it in person, we’ll have the game for you on NBC.
Parcells coached the Cowboys and spent three years running Miami’ football operations before leaving the team after the 2010 campaign. The Cowboys have an even stronger tie to guard Larry Allen, who spent 12 years with the team and helped them to the Super Bowl XXX title. Wide receiver Cris Carter played the final year of his career with the Dolphins, but is only associated with the team by those with strange memories.
Playing a fifth preseason game will give both teams a chance to take longer looks at some of the players vying to make their team, something that should be of interest to both teams after they fell short of the postseason in 2012.

They official name will be The First Annual Bill Parcells Unfulfilled Expectations Classic.
The Dallas Cowboys ar an absolute joke. May they enjoy this game aka your Superbowl Dallas fans. We here in DC will be focusing on re-dominating OUR division on the path to Lombardi #4. #RespecttheRedskins
Cant wait for Jeff Ireland to interrupt Chris Carters speech to ask him to play for the Dolphins…..
Never been a fan of teams playing that 5th preseason game.
Still, for a Miami team that was the NFL’s 2nd youngest last year, with a rash of FA additions and a boatload of picks in this year’s draft, maybe it will be time well spent.
So Jerry Jones cries to the media yesterday that says he wants to play in the Hall of Fame game
and the NFL sunk down to his level and just give it to him.
If I was the NFL…I would make Jerry Jones pay 95 million to play in the game.
What a BABY
This should make all the difference as we continue on our way to 7-9.
Bill Parcells was the best Cowboys coach Dallas has ever had, although Coach Garrett has the potential to pass him in the next few years.
Smart move jerry you got what you wanted and that is an extra game for your depleted team to have more injuries. HA HA HA. Also extra time to see what kinda of crap you have produced as a team and start your sorry season off on a bad note. ENJOY.
I can’t wait for some Football!
Please don’t let Jerry Jones arrange the seating.
more like hall of lame game
Good, for a minute there I thought the NFL was going to shove the Dallas cowboys down our throat early this year… Wait a sec…
The new look Dolphins should be one of the more intriguing teams this year. Go Fins!
Hell yes! Go Cowboys! And everyone who is talking crap about the Cowboys will watch because this is Americas Team!
The constant hate on the cowboys in these posts just shows the patheticness of the people on this site. Whaaaa whaaaaa whaaaaa. Cry some more rejects.
Can we stop calling it a game and start calling it a scrimmage, because that’s all it really is.
Yay…pre season news…
Perfect. These two teams have yet to recover from the damage that Parcells did to them.
Jeremy Shockey to give intro speech for Parcells
Not a big fan of the extra “game” but the Dolphins have a ton of new guys to take a look at. Could be beneficial.
Lets face it, if Dallas did not get to play in this game, it would have been John Mara’s fault.
The Cowboys need all the practice they can get!!!
Oncce Again, Jerry gets his way..
Fins Up!
Here’s a suggestion for the HOF game. How about making it a game with teams that have a new head coach. This would give those teams an extra game to learn and adjust to the new system, generate interest among the fan bases of those teams for the new coach.
99% of the Cowboys “fans” on this site have never stepped foot in Texas.
First time a dolphin player is being mentioned with “hall of fame” since Dan Marino…
Meaningless exhibition games are a joke.
To make them meaningful, make a rule that the first post season tie breaker should be exhibition games record.
The Fins will celebrate being almost completely done with Parcells with Jake Long now gone. Only one left of his horrible involvement with the Fins will be Hartline, who is still a 2nd tier receiver. Glad you’re gone B.P.!
I think the NFL should drop the pre season games and just make it into a 20 game season and have the last game be played that 1st Sunday in January then have the playoffs start that following Saturday and Sunday.
and Eliminate the Bye week…So when teams plays on Thursday Night, They dont have to play another game till that following Sunday or Monday…Since the NFL already said that they was going to make things fair for all teams to have a chance to play on Monday Thursday and Sunday night…And that game that they play on Thursday Night would be there bye week…So I think that would be fair enough since they dont have to play again till the following Sunday or Monday
Who wastes their time watching pre-season games?

—————————-neither one could carry Tom Landry’s jock strap
A dolphins cowboys game the day Bill Parcells enters the hall of fame? The Dolphins and Cowboy fans can all boo him for doing nothing for their teams.

So the Cowboys are the only team struggling in the playoffs? Last I checked we still had 5 SB wins in my lifetime, can you say the same about your team? Do you go on all the other team articles and post the same idiot comments?
a snoozer, for sure
@stunzeed5
Why do you think they’re called America’s Team?
Good match up. And with Parcells and Larry Allen there, it makes sense.
The Cowboys are called America’s Team because, some NFL Films script writer used the words “America’s Team” in the introductory narration to the film celebrating the Cowboys 1977 Super Bowl win over Denver.
The label stuck though Tom Landry reportedly didn’t care for it, allegedly out of concern opponents would use it for motivation.
Aren’t the Dolphins and Cowboys proof that Parcells DOESN’T belong in the HOF? He did nothing for the ‘Boys and set the ‘Fins back years with his good-old-boy hires and horrible drafting:
Tony Sparano
Anthony Fasano
Chad Henne
Pat White
Philip Merling
feel free to add more names. If I recall, PFT recently ran a story about how Miami has NO ONE left from their 2009 draft.
STUNZ,
Die hard Dallas Cowboys fan that lives in Ohio. I was at the opening game at new Cowboys stadium, I’ve been back there to at least one game ever since then. I’ve been to 18 NFL stadiums to see the Cowboys. I bleed blue, just like many that route for Americas team. Just because we’ve been terrible the last 15 years, doesn’t mean that we don’t have some of the best fans in the world. Dallas Cowboys forever.
Those Steelers fans who got so royally screwed by Jerrah, the Cowboys, and the NFL when the Super Bowl was at Jerry’s dump should buy as many tickets as possible, make the two hour drive to Canton, and throw rotten tomatoes at Jerry all game long.
