Pretty much every time the Rams had a guy down on the field this season- if it wasn’t Amendola who was actually injured- it was Saffold. He’s soft.

He has one of two options, play great on the right side and make as much money as possible in free agency, or don’t play at all and make very little money in free agency.

He is a good left tackle but a very good right tackle. No brainer.

I think nowadays on the offensive line, no position punishes you financially. And you could even make a move and be better at a (different) position than you are now. So we’ll sit down and discuss that internally with the player and even his agent. But Rodger’s a team player and he’s young. If he comes in and consistently plays like he did at the end of last year, Rodger will be fine and we’ll be better.”

Translation: Either he moves to the right or he can enjoy riding the pine.

dont know why saffold should be sweating it. given longs injury history LT is going to probably be a timeshare at best.

He’s a good tackle, it makes sense that he wants to stay on the left side before free agency. He’ll be a great right tackle for STL if he slides over. My guess is he stays but I’m sure some teams wouldn’t mind him at left tackle for a pick or two.

Well the best fit for everybody sounds like a trade, and to the Lions.

The player wants to play LT and can do it there and then spite his team on the way out like everybody else. The Rams can dump off a problem case that will want to chase the better role/money. Jake Long has no distractions. The Lions will get a discount on the price since the Rams just chopped down their own leverage on Saffold by signing Long and they probably didn’t even realize this extra tax cost, so great time to get a great value. The agent can be a hero by making a deal happen and then acting like he’s a genius.

So the only question is how many days until Saffold becomes a Lion?
