ReutersWith the Saints switching from a 4-3 to a 3-4, there’s been much discussion about which of their players fit the new scheme.
One of them won’t have to worry about it.
According to Jeff Dickerson of ESPN Chicago, the Bears have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with Saints defensive end Turk McBride.
McBride’s a backup, with 9.5 sacks in six NFL seasons with the Saints, Lions and Chiefs. His addition might cast some doubt on the future of unrestricted free agent Israel Idonije, who hasn’t drawn much interest in the market.

That’s a great football name.
Good luck Bears. He produced nothing in a Saints uniform. Yeah he was on the worst defense statistically but the weak pass rush is a main culprit of that failure, and he was a pass rusher, go figure.
Rod Marinelli will get some production out of him–wait, wait … nevermind.
Turd Ferguson says otherwise.
You should write less ambiguous headlines. “Bring in” usually means “bring in for a visit,” not “sign.”
At least one Bear player will finally have a ring.
Is “Turk” short for “Turkey?”
Another beneficiary of playing alongside Ndamukong Suh in Detroit. Went from there to Saints and fizzled. Take note with Avril, Seahawks fans.
Hopefully this is purely a depth move or he can play ST because I don’t see this as a satisfactory replacement for a guy like Idonije who could play all 4 spots on the D-line and play them well. Anything more than the league minimum on this one is a fail.
He’s a body, not a starter. Let’s not make this out for more than it is.
“At least one Bear player will finally have a ring.”
Yeah, but it’s Bushrod, not McBride.
That money should go to Izzy, he can play inside and out….
Gotta keep Izzy!
